I've just read that the British Land Speed record (Two wheel / Driven wheel) has been broken by a Busa (and a somewhat nuts rider -
Dan Harris).
An official 217mph.
The bike was 'suped up' though - Nitrous Oxide fuel system etc.
Still a Busa though !!!
That is a testimonial to the aerodynamics work Suzuki did on the 'Busa. There's more potential for improvement there...motorcycles suck for aerodynamics (see the June 99 issue of Cycle World). The 'Busa is a step in the right direction. The next limiters for top speed after aerodynamics technology are probably tire technology, and then powertrain-drive chain technology.
But congratulations to the Madman who went 217...and let's hope another Bulldog Brit biker breaks that mark soon!
