It was a check valve on the drain most likely. Not the feed into the turbo. That would make absolutely no sense.
In general someone with a turbo who’s turbo is mounted too low might get drain back from the oil pan when they’re parked and on the side stand. Then you start it up and poof...
I believe it says it replaces a previous part #. My questions are, 1). if you bought the used pump why are you contemplating getting this new one? 2). Why don’t you call the people who are selling it to find your answer?
Looks exactly like mine when it popped. You’ll either have to get it bored out and re-plated. Or get another block. I went with +2mm je’s and millennium technologies did my plating. Remember these blocks have a silicon nitride coating applied on the cylinders.
