New owner here, and I apologize for this possibly foolish question, but someone please tell me what the Kanji symbol says, or means. Thanks.

It means hahaha suckered another american-lol
No really I have read, been told that it means Hayabusa and hayabusa is the name of a falcon that dives from the sky down on to its prey at 180+ mph. It is also the name of a train in japan I think?

The falcon is correct. It is also the name of a Japanese fighter plane in WWII. Officially it was called the Ki 43, Type 1, but the Japanese called it Hayabusa.

Meaning of the kanji

It is the word Hayabusa in Kanji.  Just for the record, it is drawn right to left, which is why it flows with the bike better on the right fairing than the left.   I find it disrespectful to the Japanese language when people put the mirror image on the left fairing because it flows better.  Would you put asubayaH on the left side?

From the front page of my website:

The Kanji on the Hayabusa fairing: The pronunciation of the symbol is actually 'jun' or 'hayabusa'. The symbol represents the hayabusa. The symbol has a meaning approximating to strong and fast.

(BusaWhipped @ Jan. 24 2007,11:10) I find it disrespectful to the Japaneese language when people put the mirror image on the left fairing because it flows better.
It's "Japanese." And I agree that the symbol should be reproduced as it's written.

(johnnycrash @ Jan. 30 2007,10:54) Damm!  All this time I've been telling my friends that it's Japanese for "Harley sucks!"
