I just posted this in another thread for a member.
It may be of use to some others too so I'll put one here.

Mine always look like that first one, thankfully, knock on wood.

Mine do too, but this is a good way to check if your Power Commander or such is too rich or too lean.
Too lean will look like the bottom right one due to the excessive heat of the lean mixture.
