i know this has been covered a few times but starting to look seriously now. what all has to be dont to lower the busa.....

adjustable kickstand
adjustable lowering links
and what for the front???

thanks adam

you can add risers or you can by a different triple tree so you can slide the tubes through and you can heat up your old stand and bend it

so you can modify your old stand and bend it further out??? any problems??? and the triple tree will lower also instead of risers???

I just finished lowering my 05 Busa LE 1.5" in the front and 2.5" in the back. I made everything myself and it only cost me about $10.00. I used 3/4" pipe for the risers on the front and replaced the stock bolts with 6" bolts and locking nuts from Fastenal. The rear was 1" plate steel (1/8" thick. yes, yes, I know steel is heavier than aluminum but we're talkin ounces here not pounds) Remember though on the rear, every 1/2" on the link translates to 1" at the wheel. I would highly recommend that if you like riding twisties, don't go any lower than 2.5" in the rear because the lower fairing and exhaust will scrape the ground in a hard turn. Also, unless its a show bike, 1.25" is about max in the front with risers, right now at 1.5" my brake resevior hits my windscreen. This can be solved with an aftermarket windsreen but if its stock, I'd go 1.25". Also, my plastic under the nose hits the front fender on big bumps.

All in all, I love the look of the bike lowered. Super Agressive. The riding position feels 100% stock until you set your feet on the ground and then it feels like a freakin sled.
I love it!

I'll try and post some pics soon

Just my .02 and experiences.

Oh yea 1 more thing.

The kickstand. If you heat it up and bend it, make you sure you check it against your footpeg when it is in the raised position. I didn't check mine but I got lucky, it lays right next to the scraper hangin off the footpeg. About 1/2" away from it.

hey thanks buss05 thats awesome information. i would love to do that im more of a cruiser no real aggressive cornering for me and i love the look of the bikes lowered also so thats what i want.

thanks

and pics if possible

Yep sure thing. I'll try to get some pics for you.

The most important thing is that you don't go too low with it. I went 4.5" the first round because I hadn't considered the amount that the links transfer to the wheel. I thought, 1.5" will be 1.5" but I was quite surprised when the tire was swallowed by the rear fender and the lower fairing scraped when I hit a rock in the road.

But good luck with it and I'll post some pics.

ok cool look forward to your pics finally got my license today so im ready to put my extra money towards it. so hopefully get it done soon and get pics too would like to see your soon though if possible

thanks

You can cut the stand down,I just did this one

here are a couple of the same thing buss05 did. only i bought a triple tree. i wanted the nice bling look

its a 600 arm, i got it from roaring toyz. i think the over charged a lil. its a 2-10in over. if you can buy a 600 arm there is a shop that will do it for you at about 500 or 600 bucks. it doesnt have the big box on top and it has underbracing.

i would get a schnitz front end strap and an adjustable kickstand so that if you want to go back stock the you can change it easily. bending your kick stand is a one time deal. then when you go back stock the bike will lean over very far.

B4 I mod the bike 1" front, 2" rear, I'm guessing by this post that I want to shorten the kickstand....Can anyone confirm this....Or which way would I want to bend it....

You can bend the stand or shorten it. Bending is the quicker and cheaper route to go. Just heat it with a cutting torch, not a blowtorch, and sit on the bike. It's better to have someone else heat while you sit on the bike. Lean the bike on the stand and let it bend under the weight of the bike. When it is at the point where you like it, soak it down with water and your done. A little paint and it's like new. I'll try and post some pics tonight of the stand but for now you can enjoy this pic of the bike lowered.

Sorry for the blur, it was taken with a camera phone.

If you want to go the expensive route I did:
Top Clamp
Three hole dog bones
adjustable kick stand

Get it all on e-Bay!!

This offers unlimited adjustability and if you stiffen up the forks and rear strut it wont bottom out.

Ofcourse you will feel the road. But I weigh 280 and I can ride a passenger with no problem.

I'm about the same size as you. How low did you go front and back and 'bout how much $ was it? Just trying to get an idea of where to start. Thanks.

Hey semicps,
I would recomend 1.5" on the top clamp, use a ruler,  and middle hole on the 3 hole dog bone.
Then stiffen up the suspesion, this may take some time to dial in, if you have a steady passenger (wife or GF) it may not take as long.
