i am in wyoming, free camping in douglas city park w/hot showers. if you run through Casper hit me up. i've got all the good/bad advice one could ever need about Wyoming.
its easy to go fast up here, just be careful. watch for deer, turbo goats, and birds.
We left Salida Colorado and headed North, we went to Leadville which is about 10,500 feet and stopped for coffee. When we left there we went to the top of the pass which is about 11,500 and it was cold but yet ohhh so worth it... We rode into Wyoming and the temps are great... Found some new roads with no traffic and smooth as silk asphalt.....
The day was ending and we were about 40 miles from our destination for the day and afternoon storms started rolling in..... We thought we could make it through one small opening in the rain (you can see the pics below) but when we got about 20 miles from the hotel lighting and wind started going crazy... A Colorado trooper we met told us that she worked a fatality yesterday where a guy on a motorcycle got hit by lightning in the head while riding his bike, he died..... So knowing that and seeing this crazy lightning storm with HUGE strikes hitting the ground we had to turn around... The rain was just incredible.... We had to turn around and hook it up busa style to get back about 10 miles to the only covering around which was an old gas station... The cross wiinds were coming in about 45 - 60 gust and we turned a large curve and when the wind was at our backs we just hammered it to get to shelter... We beat the storm by about 60 seconds........ We waited there for about 30 minutes and it blew over... A guy that lives around there told us that there was another front coming in so we left quickly....
We got chased by rain all day but never got wet.....
Day Two Pics....
This was early in the morning when we were leaving Salida...
Drinking some coffee in leadville, it was in the 50's getting to 10,000 ft..
Really? This road is 40mph, its so smooth and the asphalt is new.
I just happened to catch Steve drumming to Van Halen, he didn't know I took this pic.... But I knew what he was listening to...
Just a big rock in the middle of nowhere
We have been trying to get shots of the state lines...
Steve knew that some of his friends were going to Montana too, he called them when we were going down the road and found out that they were about 10 minutes behind us. We pulled over and took a pic of them, they are trailering bikes to Glacier National Park too... What are the odds that another group that left on a different day, that took a different route would end up that close together 1500 miles from home
Yeah so Steve's GPS pulled us off Interstate and put us on this DIRT ROAD..... We took it for about 3 miles where it connected right back up to the very interstate we just got off....
Just some shots of the rain.... Man it was pouring
