trying to do this today

i have a 2002 Hayabusa... i have stripped the Starter Three Times now ... Question: can i replace The Starter Limiter Idle Gear (the Gear DIRECTLY CONNECTED to the Starter); with the 2003 Version WHICH HAS THREE TEETH .. on '02 Model has ONE ROW OF TEETH .... can i just PULL THE PART OUT AND...
