01 Busa a 6speed???

I bought a used 2001 Hayabusa in February of last year, I drove it all of last year and I never shifter to 6th, I tried before because it seemed to be laboring at high speeds and felt revy at highway cruising, but I just figured it was a 5 speed I never brought it up to anyone and Now I am curious, It is a 5 speed or a 6 and could there be a problem why mine doesnt go into 6th?

?? I cant go try it now because it is all apart and getting painted... can someone give me some answers.... Maybe I cant count though and I have been in 6th I have had it to 170 and I think the rpms were around 10K is that 5th or 6th, thanks?

1 down, 5 up for all years. Maybe you want to get a gear indicator to let you know what gear you are in!

I'm betting you have been in 6th all along and didn't realize it. Welcome to the board and you will probably get lots of flack for this one. Maybe even called a troll a few times, but when you've had a Busa for a year and don't know what gear you are in guess you should expect it!

1 down and 5 up is the pattern make sure you are in 1st which is all the way down below netral before you start off!

I called my freind that I bought the bike off of and he said he thought it was a 5 speed too, Im thinking something is wrong and its not going into 6... tHANKS Guys

As soon as you get back together roll out and count your gears as you go...You can do this at a moderate speed no need to slam the limiter...

I usually try to hit that elusive 7th gear when not paying attention to what gear I am in. I should check into a gear indicator too

To be kind 10 k at 170mph in 6th gear does sound like you where in 5th not 6th. Still need to go and and count those gears, take your friend too or ask him what the hell he did to it.

Don't worry I do the same thing, especially when getting on an on-ramp!

I am in Scituate Rhode Island also very close to Foster, I got to ride today but not my Busa , A 2001 ZX-12r I may be purchasing in the next week or so, depending on if he takes my offer....
