'05 Hayabusa = Merry Christmas to Me!

So after a few years riding 600s I finally traded in my '04 Yamaha R6 on a 2005 Hayabusa last month!!!  I could not be more impressed, I love this thing, and my girlfriend will actually ride more than 5 miles with me now.

So far I'm VERY surprised how well this thing gets through the twisties and my riding buddies have felt the same (still leaving them in the dust

).  Chicken strips all but disappeared after my 2nd short trip down my favorite nearby backroad.

I joined one of the other 'busa forums at first and it was pretty lame.  I've been MUCH more impressed with this one in the last couple days.

My mods will be pretty light to start with.  I just did some D&D slip-ons, I'll get a fender eliminator, and the reflectors are gone.  I also did a tank protector.  Frame sliders are a strong possibility if I can find some good ones and I'm thinking of replacing the grips.  Then I'll probably save my pennies in case I decide she needs more power in a couple years (boost or the nitrous?)

Any good tips, tricks, or links to places to look or things I need to know are all appreciated!!!

You are in the right place for parts.

Board sponsors are ALWAYS the way to roll.

Welcome to the board and congrats! Which color did you get? You will find a lot of great information here about different problems/techniques/mods and the like around here. Before you get to do that though we need pics!

Again, welcome aboard, glad to have you!

Welcome!

I also remember the pleasant surprise of how well the Busa handles. It only gets better the more you ride it

I don't have time to mess with figuring out how to post pics right now.  I spent the last 10 minutes trying to set up a gallery page and I'm already frustrated. I read the "pinned" thread on posting pics and it's just a lot more trouble than I'm used to on my other forums.  Normally I can just click image then post the URL from photobucket, but it doesn't work here.  I'll get a gallery going eventually and figure out the rest when I have more time.

So for now, here are the links:

One of the R6 for the sake of nostalgia

Gorgeous bike. You must be knocking yourself on the head wondering why you didn't make the switch much earlier.

Congrats to you, and welcome to the best 'busa site anywhere.

Glad to have you on hayabusa.org

Welcome to the boards Yorad, glad you like your new ride. The bike does handle pretty good but It does have to be muscled it a little.I have heard that raising the rear of the bike 1 " will make the bike even more responsive in the turns, still there is the wheelbase and weight to contend with.A good chassis set up and the right tires will really wake the Busa up! My 2 cts.

Nice bike. It will feel a lot different in the twisties than the R6 but a lot more comfortable to ride any distance. Also the power delivery is not even comparible. Welcome.

nice. your looking for mods already! the fever has hit you hard. is it bone stock right now or do you now?

If you wanna wake that sucker up i.e.--really surprise your friends, try a 1" raise in the rear and replace those stock sagging fork springs with some .95's. You look like your over 200 pounds. WOW! the difference is amazing..
Welcome to the addiction and congratulations on the fastest color!
