Well, I'm the newest member of the dumbarse club. I dropped my bike. So now it's time to spend the money I was saving for a full Micron exhaust. The fairing damage isn't that bad(a few scratches) but I don't even have 600 miles on my bike so I'm going to replace it. The bike is a red/black 05. The best price I found so far is $440 shipped. Thats for a brand new one with all factory stickers. Does anyone know where I can find a better price? I will also be needing a stator cover. Where can I find the best price for a cover? Thanks

Dang! I feel for ya bro. I did the same thing. My 05 went over with about 500 miles on it. I replaced the panel and got a Lockhart Phillips carbon fiber stator cover.

The price you were quoted sounds about right.

I then installed frame sliders.

and swingarm sliders

and did the kickstand mod

etc......

That's a great price considering it includes shipping. I don't think you'll do better.

if it's nto bad why don't you find a reputable body shop and have it touched up?

probably cheaper.. and it's not like you did any serious damage droppin it in the driveway or whatever.

Just a thought.. so you can have your cake and listen to the sweeet sounds of the micron full system too. (i've got a micron full sys.. you'll be happy)

you could always back up later and replace it if it bothers you 1000 miles from today.

Plus $500 is like a third of a nice custom paint job. If its only a few scratches them I agree with Ego, get someone to touch it up. It dont have to be perfect either..forget trying to keep your bike perfect...the bike is going to get scratches and chips in it.

Still, a brand new bike should stay looking new for a while. I completely understand wanting it to be perfect.

But I also know they can't stay that way!

Hey, I feel for ya! I just wish mine only had "a few scratches"!!! It's toast!
I have done some pricing as well, and the price on the side panel sounds about right, especially if it is shipped. Believe it or not, the sides are more cheese than the front.....go figure.

I feel your pain bro, but make it new again, thats what I'm gonna do.

I'd definitely recommend the paint job. I had mine repainted after a parking lot mishap and it looks identical to the stock piece. Saved several hundred dollars too.

Some of you guys know I try to help out the org when I can. I can get a new lower delivered in the US for just a tad over $400. Give me a ring 800-359-0567 x126.

Thanks for all the responces you guys are great. I emailed Cathy and pmed Kevin so I'll see what the deals are. As far as the painting advice goes, I thought about it but I don't trust anyone around my area to do it. Not to mention I will still have to buy the decals which will be well over $100 maybe closer to $150 plus the cost to paint it and install the decals. Then still not knowing if it will be done right. I would rather spend $400 for a new one and maybe sell the old one for a few bucks. Or use the old one to practice my frame slider cutting skills. I don't think there will be much difference in cost between repairing and replacing. But I do know by replacing it will ,without a doubt, be perfect again.
