06 Starting issues

I just bought my 06 busa 1 month ago. I am still in the break in period with only 530 miles on it.

I filled up the tank last night, then drove it to work this morning and it won't start tonight. I had to leave it at work. When I try and start it I hear it turn over and the lights and all work but the best I can get out of it is a sickly sputter.

At the clock it says "check" and nothing else. The only light that stays on is the Oil light, but I thought that might be normal.

Thought it might be low on oil for some reason. so i put about 1/4 a quart in, no dice.

I do hear the fuel pump going when I press the engine switch. Bad fuel maybe? But I just filled it up.

Does it turn over like you have a fully charged battery or does it not turn over at all or real slow like?

if your bike doesnt turn over you may have either killed the battery, battery terminals are loose or battery went bad...i walked away from my bike twice now only to realize after i got past it that i turned the key to far and put it in PARK which leave the lights on...so possible dead battery after leaving lights on all day...or the other 2 i stated above ^

Good luck with it!

Stupid question - is the kill switch in the 'OFF' position

let the fuel pump spool up about 3 X then try. My bike sometimes does that when it's very cold in the morning.

welcome to the site dude...we'll get you fixed.

there's some awesome techs around here.

RSD.

Yea I tryed it with the choke out and in. I don't think its the battery because you can hear it trying to turn over but nothing every starts (Pistons never move).

Don't think its a kickstand issue because the bike will start in N with the kickstand up or down. I have tryed to start it with the kickstand down and in first, totaly diffrient. In that case it seemed that the starter butten didn't even work. Try it and you will see what I mean.

I think I'm leaning toward contaminated fuel. I'm going to load it up on a buddys truck tommorow and take it to the shop for its 600 mile tune up and they can figure it out.

They asked me at the dealership if i wanted a warrenty and of couse I said "Hell no" am I totaly boned or does Suzuki have some sort of factory warrenty you don't need to pay for?

I'll keep you posted on the results.

It makes the noise you hear when you press the starter and right before exhuast starts coming out of the pipes. But the exhuast never starts comming out of the pipes.

When you mean the kill switch on the bars, your talking about the red switch near my right hand thumb right? if so, yes thats flipped.

Good news about the warranty though!

Agian, I will hand it off to the shop tommorow and get their input. I'll keep you updated

Is the starter turning the engine fast enough like normal or not? I think its the battery, busa batteries are junk.

I don't think its the battery because you can hear it trying to turn over but nothing every starts (Pistons never move).
Just to clarify,

is the starter running full speed and nothing starts?

or

does it sound like its trying to turn over?
+ 1    theres that question again that has not been clearly answerd..............................

Alright, got the bike back from the shop and it rides like a champ. This is the deal.

Some of you where some what correct with your power/battery related guesses.

This iswhat the bike tech told me:

If your sitting on the bike under your left faring near the gadges. There is a fuse box type deal, though I'm not sure if thats actualy what it is, thats just how the tech discribed it. There is a group of cables with a red wire in it, agian just passing off what he told me. When that cable plugs into the fuse box thing it clicks in, kinda like a hook and I guess there is a special way of plugging it in and it wasn't plugged in all the way when he got it. So all he said he did to fix it was unplug it and reseat it back into the fuse box thing.

He also said I flooded it but thats to be expected because I tryed to start it for about 20 mins strait.

I asked him how he fixed the flooding problem and he told me he pumped in compressed air some where and increased the air to fuel ratio untill it was normal.

The battery was fine, the cables where fine, just the plug type deal with the red wire was not seated correctly. He explained it to me that it was like that from the dealership and was only a matter of time untill it just fell out or vibrated out. It was covered in my warrante

And to answer the question, yes the starter was at full speed and nothing starts.

Thank you all agian for your efforts to help me. I hope this could be a help to other people with similar problems.

Good news..Now off you pop and ride that bike....
