ok i just picked up my 07 busa yesterday and i put 100 miles on it i kept it under 5500 rpms and temp only to the middle . but 2 time it just was dumping coolant out the over flow under the bike first time was when i parked it then the second time was at a light in traffic it did not look good for the new busa to be pissing in the road . is this normal for a new bike?did they just over fill it ? or do i have a real problem ? PLEAS HELP

Take it back to the dealer and get it fixed...that should not happen

From my experience, a brand new bike will heat-up very fast because it is not broken it yet, and the engine is still tight.

My '06 Busa overheated in traffic during my first ride, with only 150 miles on it.

Your bike should be fine, just keep an eye on the temp gauge, and if the coolant temp light comes on, shut off the engine and leave the ignition on so that the radiator fan keeps running.

Don't panic, give your bike some time to break-in. Remember, you are dealing with 1299cc. The bike needs airflow to help cool it down when new.

The coolant overflow is doing its job, by pissing out a little fluid. If more than about 20 ounces spewed out, then you may have concern. Maybe then you have an air bubble in your radiator, or your thermostat is functioning improperly.

Have you looked at the coolant?
I just checked mine and when the bike is upright the coolant level is about half way between the line and the seam in the neck if that makes sense.

New busas don't overheat and neither do old ones unless there is something wrong.

The dealer never burped the air out of the system. The process is nothing more than taking off the radiator cap and slowly rocking the bike back and forth until all air is purged. This has to be done everytime the coolant is changed and you wouldn't believe the amount of air that comes out. After the air is out top the radiator off again up to the neck and repeat the rocking to make sure there is no more air.

I hope you didn't overheat it, otherwise welcome to future head warpage/gasket problems. Don't bother burping it yourself, let the dealer do it. If it was mine I'd tell them to pick it up on a trailer and fix it. Also make sure you get a written and signed paper stating what the problem was so that next year if the head gasket decides to go you'll have something to fall back on.

Man what he said !!! (up top) It shouldn't do that! Was the fan coming on? Where was the temp gage at? You do know they have an elec fan rite??? I have heard of a few 07's that have faulty sensors. Get it recorded that this happened. These eng don't like it when they are overheated!

+1

Ok i guess its best to read it all! Temp at 1/2! They must have filled it to the top. If the coolant tank is still at level your good to go. It idled fine at the time it overflowed ?

Not to argue cause I sure as hell don't know what I'm talking about, but why do we have fan mod and engine ice threads all over the place; because Busa's don't like heavy traffic and niether do similar bikes.

I had to pull over a number of times in Mrytle Beach the past two weekends because of sitting in traffic. No spewing.

Hope that the radiator needs burping or the new kid at the shop overfilled the radiator.

It's under warranty, make em fix it.

take it back...sounds like a clog some where or heating issue. I have had my 06 kick on the fan in 100 degree weather in traffic but never spit.

The threads always start off like this one. A new bike owner has air in the system because the dealer chose not to do the prep work they were paid to do. Then the same small number of guys who use snake oil and muzzy blades to band-aid their problem reply and give bad advice to the noob with air in his system.

I've been in an hour long traffic jam at 103 degrees with nothing more than the fan cycling every so often. I had to pull over and remove my helmet and jacket because I was about to pass out. The bike stayed cool...I didn't. We've had guys who live in the death valley area claim their Busas have never once overheated...when that topic comes up the snake oil guys claim it's because of the humidity where they live. Too bad humidity doesn't change temperature and an inanimate object doesn't feel windchills or heat indexs.

Almost all overheating complaints occur only one time when the bike is new and almost always on the ride home from the dealer. The dealer simply does not do their job or purging the air (along with adjusting the headlight beam).

If I thought for one second Suzuki didn't design a proper cooling system on a mass production bike, I would have kicked it to the curb in a second and never looked back at another Suzuki product.
