Just saw a new '08 up close and personal....I am beginning to warm up to the butt view..beginnig, I said. Not ready to make a jump yet.

The one thing that is always in the back of my mind is the cronic 2nd gear issue. Mine has not shown any signs yet...thank God!

Did Suzuki address this issue with the '08?

What 2nd gear issue?

I was told that they put a bigger out put shaft in and some other little upgrades. I have not heard if they did anything with the shift forks or cutting a little more angle on 2nd.

I heard the 07 busa was coming with a turbo too and we all see how that turned out...

I've only got 750 miles on the bike. No gear issues noticed by me yet, other than 2nd to 3rd gear shift takes a little more effort than others, but hardly enough to mention.

With a little over 500 miles on mine I would say the tranny is still a little stiff, I kinda have to 'put it in each gear', I've missed 6th twice, but I attribute that to operator error more than mechanical malfuntion, riding in a pack of loud crotch rockets on a silent bike is sometimes a little challenging because you are riding by sight and touch, sound is taken out of the equation. The tranny is much smoother when you wind it out in each gear, but winding out a Busa in any gear can create other issues.

You guys are so mean LOL My 1100 had a 2nd gear issue I read alot about people with issues on there Busas. I think it has to do with some abuse but some design issues to. If you want performance and want to bang gears in wheelies and drag racing first to second always takes some abuse. Peopl that ride less aggressive dont SEEM to notice as many issues. I ride mine pretty hard 1st to 2nd wheelies like I always have and it has come out a couple times it only takes one time to knick the gear and cause you issues ( I repaired my 1100 myself so I know what little damage can cause it to pop out of second gear) I wouldnt really call it an issue so much as a weak spot that can have problems. We used to undercut our 2nd and 5th gears on the 1100's so if it just barely caught the edge of the gear it would be more likely to pull the gear into gear rather than popping it out. I dont think a biger shaft is going to do anything for that issue
