I've seen alot of dealer/big name comparisons and findings. I've yet to see if anyone has actually done a legitimate race with between the 2008 14 & busa. I mean with all variables even (ie location, mods & rider).

there's the problem right there...

Once the race season is in full swing is probably when things will be more evident. It's gonna be a slug fest though. The bikes are so even it's gonna be the better rider or more consistant rider who wins (if all variables can be even).

Agreed the bikes are so close to even it will come down to the rider. I have a friend that has bought an 08 ZX14. He is leaving his stock and I will have my 08 busa stock and we will run them. Our track is suppose to open for TnT on Feb 23 weather permitting. Unfortunately he is a damn good rider.

Wasn't there just a posting from Motorcyclist mag about 08 vs 08 using the same rider?  That's not legit?

For those of you that don't get an early copy of Motorcyclist...the Feb. issue tests an 08 ZX-14 and on page 59 advises...."A well known, (but anonymous due to sponsorship issues) professional dragracer did 20 1/4 mile runs on each bike".....and I paraphrase....both bikes were lowered with straps in front and shorter links in rear...the Kawasaki's best run was 9.24 seconds @ 150.00 mph.....the Hayabusa's best run was 9.23 seconds @ 151.5 mph!  These figures represent the level playing field representation of Kawasaki and Suzukis latest editions of the ZX-14 and Hayabusa. Same rider, same track, same time, same prep methodology, 20 times each to do this. What else is there to say.

I agree with you 100%, with either bike your talking secs. just gonna come down to what you like and what your looking for from these two heavyweights. still should be fun to talk about and see

Honestly I feel the busa will stay on the perceived top. It has a greater following so more people have tweeked them and the aftermarket still has more parts for them over the ZX

I wouldn't care if the 14 was 10 seconds faster than te new 08 Busa. The frame on the 14 is known to break. I have a friend at the track trying to sell a 14 right now because he had to have the frame rewelded.

With these bikes its down to preference. And since this a busa board the views are one sided to say the least.Broken frames on the 14 blaa blaa blaa.I had a 06 14 not one problem I now have a 08 14.Before these bikes I owned two busas.Great bikes.I say ride what you like, and have fun.I personally like the fact that My 14 is not on every street corner, which as pointed out here Busas out sell the 14 2-1.Cheers

The 14 just reminds me of the the old zx11 in looks so much it already seems old. But then the Busa is just about the same looker as the previous models so it boils down to your preference in the cosmetic dept. The both have their ups and downs. The Kaw has a comfty seat, but I don't like the banna seat design. The Busa has a crappy clutch design for the drag racer. The 14 leaks from the valve cover on some models. The busa rubs the tail when you lower it and the Kaw cracks the oil pan. Pretty much a draw in my opinion.

I have ran them Head to head. I have an '07 ZX14 and an '08 Busa. Had my buddy ride with me when we ran them. Frist runs, from stop and roll on, I won on the Busa. We switched Bikes, him on the Busa and me on the ZX14, that time I won on the ZX14 both times. The bikes are too close, will be up to the rider.
