1363 JE PISTONS SMOKEING?

I HAVE ONLY DONE A FEW 1363 KITS BUT THEY ALL SMOKE!THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT MAY BE PART OF THE REASON THEY ONLY PICK UP 6-8HP?I HAVE TRIED THEM AT 13-1 AND 15-1 AND WITH OUT SOME CRACK FUEL THEY JUST DONT SEEM TO BE WORTH THE HASSLE!IF ANY ONE ELSE IS USEING THEM I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW MUCH YOU GAINED AND DOES YOURS SMOKE?
 
Have you done any 1390's (3 over) and if so what kind of hp did you get out of them? i have one that doesn't smoke or anything and I am currently making 204 with the yosh box. My compression is a little over 13:1. Let me know what you think.
 
Lee, What knid of attention are you giving your blocks when you get them back from being replated?

Also, I'm not sure that the rings that come with the JE's are the best way to go either.

You are the first person I've heard of having any smoking problems.

Are you sure it's the JE pistons?

I'd have to go with block prep or rings, not the pistons.

What kind of ware signs are showing on your parts?
 
Who replated the cylinders...J&E recommends millenium plating....John said the material they use works the best with thier rings.
 
I HAVE NOT TRIED A 1390 BECAUSE I DONT THINK IT WOULD LIVE.RELIABILITY IS 1ST AT MY SHOP! I THINK 204HP IS RESPECTABLE DEPENDING ON WHAT ELSE YOU HAVE DONE,STOCK CAMS?ECT

I USE ONLY MILLENIUM FOR REPLATEING!THEY DO THE BEST WORK I'VE SEEN!QUICK TOO!!

I DIDN'T SUFOCATE,I'VE JUST BEEN TIED UP WITH BUSINESS AND ALL.I'M SORRY I EVEN STARTED THIS TOPIC!BUT ANY WAY IT SOUNDS LIKE I'M THE ONLY ONE WITH THE PROBLEM.I WASH ALL THE BLOCKS WITH SOAP+WATER,MIC THEM, CHECK END GAP,SIDE CLEARANCE AND HAVE SEEN NO STRANGE WEAR.MAYBE I HAVE A CASE OF RECTAL CRANEIAL INVERSION! OR HEAD UP THE A!! I'M TRYING ANOTHER ONE,WISH ME LUCK!!
 
Lee, what kind of hp numbers are you getting out of your 2 over blocks. Have you seen the 1430 that is in your neck of the woods? I heard he ran 8.9's last weekend. Why don't you think the 3 over will live? Thanks for you knowledge on this subject.
 
THE BEST OF THE 3 1363S MADE 206HP WITH A 3% CORRECTION FACTOR.IT WAS THE ONLY ONE WITH AFTER MARKET CAMS AND IT STILL HAD THE BALANCER IN.AND WAS 13-1 ON PUMP GAS.I DON'T KNOW OF A AFTERMARKET STUD KIT YET.
 
Lee, I've talked with a couple of different engine builders about the smoking problem your having and one told Me that you have to do something a little different to the surface in the cylinder when you get it back.

The other said that the JE rings that come with the pistons are not that good and to use rings from japan. Maybe you know what rings those might be....I don't.

Lee I'd like to hear this from you....Why don't you think a 3 or 4mm wont live? Whats your reason?

FRANK,I DID SURFACE ONE AFTER IT CAME BACK FROM MILLENEUM TO ADJUST THE DECK. I DON'T KNOW WHAT RINGS THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT OR ANY OEM RINGS 83MM.I'M GOING TO TRY A 3MM BUT THERE IS NOT MUCH ROOM BETWEEN CYLS FOR HEAD GASKET.4MM WOULD LEAVE SO LITTLE THAT I'M SURE THEY WOULD GIVE GASKET PROBLEMS.
THE CAM I USED WAS A MEGACYCLE GROUND TO MY OWN SPEC.ALL I CAN SAY IS IT REQUIRES DIFFERENT SPRINGS,THAT WE SELL, AND SINKING THE GUIDES.BIG!!
 
Lee with that big of a cam aren`t you having the same problem as on ZX`s...the bucket actually trying to rock in the head...
 
lee-what kind of power are you getting and how much are they i,ve been thinking of putting the yosh cams in my bike(joke)got um and what is the turn around time for the work?cam,s spring,s and guild work.
 
Lee how about a breakdown of the differant stage mods you are offering for the Hayabusa?

I am sure it would be welcome knowledge, I have spoke to a CT guy who is very happy with your work. He did not know the details of your differant choices.
