The block and pistons will be roughly 1000.00. The head work will be roughly 1500.00. cams will be about 500.00. Dyno tune will be about 250.00 and about 1000 for labor. That comes out to about 4250.00 These are rough estimates. It can easily reach 5000 though. Throw in other small parts like a new clutch, heavy springs, slave support, new chain, and full exhaust.
Im looking into all of this now my self. It seems to just keep adding up. My bike is totaly stock. SO I realy have all of those other little things to get too. Up grade, the clutch, air box, pair mod, exhaust, power commader, starter case saver, the two battery set up if you go 1397cc. Then I was thinkin while the motor is all torn down ,get the tranny under cut. Then either get the baffle that keeps the oil in the right place or get the oil pick up that moves with the oil.
Then theres the whole should I get the 08 crank. Mine is a 00 with 20k on the clock. I will either need a crank or send mine to falicon for repair. I spun a bearing. Low on oil and hi rpm wheelies arent a good combination. I didnt want to have to take a second morgage out to just do my motor.
If you go with a 1397 kit 12.8cr and then get the 08 crank, what would that bring the cr up to. If it where to hi for the street couldnt you just add a bigger gasket like you can do to lower the cr when you add a turbo. Speaking of turbos. I relise that you get more hp and it cost less but for some reason I would rather go all motor.I would like to keep the cr lower for cheaper gas and maybe no 2 batts. If you keep the cr low can you still get big hp #s?
If you build it your self, how do you know what combination to go with? Cams, crank, bore, head work or not. Then you still need a good tuner. I like the idea of getting over 200 hp. I'm thinking more and more to just drop it off at carpenter racing. Pick it up and ride. I geuss the big question is, Its all in how deep your pockets are? SORRY for rambling.
