Scavengers taking goods
Police patrolled Branscombe beach Monday trying — with limited success — to keep scavengers away from about 40 containers that had washed ashore.

“A couple of hundred people have been on the beach today, taking things away, and there were around the same number last night,â€￾ said Constable Steve Spearitt.

“Around 15 BMW motorbikes were carried off the beach last night,â€￾ he said.

Right on!!! Its like Christmas.

I bet that salt water will mess a few things up.

Note to self dont buy BMW parts from steal-bay they got wet!

If they were in containers, they prolly didn't get wet. Wouldn't have permanent damage anyway unless they were submersed for a long period of time. Kinda like when your quad goes thru the ice, it will be fine unless you dont get it within about a year

to bad who ever stole them wont be able to registar them. i'm sure the vin numbers are on some piece of paper somewhere and when someone sells it or tries to register it... well you know. They could sell the parts though it guess... either way thats gotta suck for the shipping company!

news stated that what wash's up on the beach belongs to whoever owns it, in this case a public beach, the law also states that if asked it must be returned. they also have to declare what they took, yea right.......... the bad part is for the stuff that belonged to individuals, most of it is lost forever now. from what i read the bmw bikes were took without any salt water damange.

Uhm no. The bikes still belong to the people shipping the bikes. This isn't a sinking ship where you can claim the sunk goods, it was beached which means the cargo is still the property of the ship owners. Who ever takes stuff off that beach are nothing more then common thieves. I hope they throw the book at every one of them.

Unfortunately there is not a finders keepers law.

The news last night said that anything they took was perfectly legal salvage. But in England they were required to report what they salvaged!

If there were containers of Busa's....might be worth the plane ticket over there.
