Can some one tell me where to get a 16 tooth front sprocket. My dealer says he can't find a supplier for this. Thanks

Thanks Frank for the fast reply.

Sorry I just ordered one. $15.95 They are very close so I should have it by the weekend. Yahoooooo. :)

Your dealer is an idiot. The same front sprocket is used for the GSXR 750,GSXR 1100 and the TL1000S and TL1000R.They all have the same spline sizes

Will I have to remove a link from the chain with this. I have the stock chain. Is the stock chain holding up with a tooth taken out of the front. I am not hard on my bike. I got 4700 miles out of one rear tire.

Plus two teeth on the rear works best for me. The only problem is that the bike wants to flip over in second gear if you don't let off the gas a little. It also helps you get partially through 4th gear in the quarter mile instead of hitting the rev limiter in third gear a few yards before the first line of the timing box.

If I replace the rear sprocket then I will have to replace the chain, correct? I don't want to spend that kind of money yet. I will do the front to see how I like it and then if I like it I will get new chain and rear. How much should a rear sprocket cost me? Thanks

If you replace the rear you do not need to replace the chain unless the chain is bad or worn.

NOTE: I am looking for the OEM front sprocket 17thooth Not looking to spend too much I know how much dealer is or I could trade for 2 teeth up in rear.

When I was ordering my sprocket and chain setup from Sprocket Specialists, the tech advised me to go up 2-3 teeth in the rear vs. going down one in the front. His reasoning is that it puts to much strain on the shaft. I took his advice and went up 3 on the back sprocket and the bike accelerates like a rocket (as if it didnt before).

How many teeth has the rear got standard?

I'm going to the Alexanda Palace road race show on Satuday coming (UK) so far my shopping list is..

PCII
Two teeth bigger rear sprocket (was a 16 tooth front until I read this thread!)
And a double bubble screen.
S/Steel brake lines.

If only I had the cash for some decent brakes - oh well!

40teeth.a few holeshots and you can add at least 2 teeth.sorry johny all the stock front sprockets i have have a chip out of them.(imagine that).if you take your rear wheel off make sure you chack the metal swingarm guides inside the arm!i've seen a few loose ones including mine.

Sorry Motorhead, I'm being dumb. What do you mean by "a few holeshots" maybe it's a American term I do not understand being a Brit!

Maybe we should have a Anglo/American translator on the board! :)

Jack it's really going to depend on what type of riding your into. Your wieght plays into it also.

This is the way I see it in most cases...

When a Busa goes through the traps it's in 3rd gear needing to shift into 4th.

Now if you drop 1 tooth in the front or raise it 3 in the rear(same difference), it's going to put you at the same place rpm wise in 4th gear.

These are just things to check out when your trying to set your Busa up for the best 1/4 mile time.

I can give more details if you need any???

Frank Adams & badbus,
Why do you recommend +2 on rear as the best way to go. Does this engine not rev quick enough to keep up with +3 or more or is it just personal preference? Maybe a traction problem? I have been considering +3 but don't know this bikes manners. Thanks for any help! Jack.
