I've always done my own maintenance but never any "real" work on a gun until now. I picked up an old Norinco that the slide wouldn't cycle on for cheap as a project. After a thorough cleaning and removing what appeared to be a large order of fries from the slide and spring, the gun would cycle but the hammer would drop to the half-cocked position after every round. I fixed that, then another issue would show up and so on so in the end up replacing the following and now have a much deeper and greater appreciation for the 1911.
Ed Brown barrel bushing,
Ed Brown recoil spring plug
Ed Brown frame rebuild kit
Wilson combat spring kit
Wilson Combat thumb safety
Wilson Combat slide stop
Wilson Combat a2 sear
Wilson Combat skeletonized hammer
Wilson Combat Factory Plus Disconnector
Wilson Combat Beavertail Grip Safety
Wilson Combat Ultralight Match Trigger
I'll hopefully get a trip to the range this weekend.
