Could I get a heads up howto on the first oil change?
Let me know exactly what I need to do.
I'd really appreciate it. I just don't want to screw anything up.
Thanks-EZ

it's done, thanks anyway.
The things I learned were that u must have a long thin filter wrench, I got one at walmart for 4 bux, I couldn't get my fat hand in there, and the the right side lower is puzzle fitted on top, bottom and front. They all have to go in place carefully.
The black push thru fastener was a bit of a question, but I took a stab at it and it pops out the top then u can take the surrounding part right out.

The book said 3.5 quarts, It took almost 4 to get it to show correctly in the window.

443 miles and the oil was black, I been doing the motoman breakin and I prolly let it go a little longer than I should have.
I got it with 1 mile on it and I did the hard accel/decel on the way home form the dealer. It had a little white smoke in the 40 to 80 mile stretch, but now it is getting stronger everytime I ride it.

We'll see if the oil is ok at 6-700 mile change-EZ

every thousand, easier to keep track. 8, 584, and 1000 miles. Make sure not to over tighten the drain plug and make sure to really snug the oil filter tight.

Use a HIgh Quality Ester Based Full synthetic, and Change oil every 5k miles...

Only important tip I had for you was using a little aluminum foil under and around your headers to redirect the oil drips into the pan not all over your headers. Good to know and was really handy..

Al foil, that I coulda used, I just wiped it down really well, got very little smoke after it was done.

Let me ask, it said 3.5 q with filter. I put almost 4. the only little bit I pouredx out of the first quart was to flush the negine case a bit. so it prolly has 3.75 q in it. The level is at half the window. That should be good ya? The filter is the Suzi filter exactly what it had before-EZ

Yup, Oil change with filter according to owners manual is actually 1.8 liters I believe. Sounds like your dead on...

Changing the oil every 1000 miles seems very extreme...I would say after the initial oil change just stick with manufacturers recommendation.....or around them...

I normally change mine every 3000 miles (oil and filter) and right before I store for the winter no matter what mileage...I know in a car I change synthetic every 6K and I have heard people say that even 10K is ok....haven't gone to synthetic motorcycle oil yet, waiting for the spring....but will probably keep it in all season 6 months.....
