1st ride with New Wheels

vman1300

Never Forgotten
With the weather soooooo nice in December, I finally got some time to myself to head out to a local playground here in the Mountains of WNC.

Yesterday I headed to HWY 74 about 10 miles from my house.

A few weeks ago, I finised up a new wheel/brake install including Marchesis Wheels and Galfer Rotors.

For a full report on the install click

I was expecting some differences in the handling characteristics on my ole 99. I was not prepared for what I experienced.

I took it very easy the 1st few corners to see if I could tell a difference.

The Busa seemed "lighter" and a little quicker on side to side transitions.

Once a was about a mile in, I turned the wick up a wee bit.

On the entrance to a sweeping left hander, I set up my ture to clip the apex just like always. I turned in and nearly crossed the double yellow!

If I had of kept the same line, I would have went all the way across the oncoming lane.

To say I was shocked was an understatement.

After numerous passes up and down the mountains, I was finally getting comfy on the "New" feeling Busa.

If you like spirited mountain riding, the wheels would make an excellent addition to your bike.

The weight loss is VERY evident at a brisk/track day pace.

I cant wait until Jennings next month!

congrats

sounds like you got just what you were looking for plus some...there's no way the rest of us fat boys are going to be able to keep up now

can you tell the difference on acceleration also or just in handling the curves?

I really didnt keep all variables in tack to evaluate acceleration.

I went up a tooth on the rear.

So yes it does fell noticablly quicker. Some is due to the weight savings and some due to the sprocket.

Nice,, ive noticed over the years that the less unsprung weight, you gain so much acceration!
I think wheels should be on everyones mod list!

I had the same experience with my wheels/rotors. I think the wheels are by far the best/noticable upgrade i've done to my busa, even more than the Ohlins. Good luck at the track!

+1

Huge improvement..and costly.

I would recomend brakes before wheels.

runeight...

Sounds great. Now I'm seriously thinking about losing 70 or 80 lbs. After market 4 in 1 would have to save some weight looking at the cannons ( cans ) that come on each side from the factory.

awesome Kevin. So now when at the gap, let the rest of us take off and in about 10 minutes later you leave and we all should end up at the overlook at the same time.
