20,500 hits!

so I run a little po-dunk site for a parade committee in the little town I work/live in.

This was the second year we had the website.. last year during the month of the parade we had like 1,500 hits..

this year... over 20,000..

thats amazing.

I don't get it though.. somebody explain this to me... this town is like 6,000 population... I don't get it.. 300 visitors... and 20,000 hits?

I thought a hit was somebody showin up at your website..

is a hit just a "hit" on some search word on a search engine or something?

help.. i'm but a newb at this webstuff for the most part.
oh yeah,, guru's suggestions would be nice on what to do with it next..

People could be hitting the site because it shows up in a search for NASCAR collector or Dale Earnhardt.

Note to self:

Add the words NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt to the site somehow if I start up a web store.
