2004 Hayabusa Exhaust

Hey All,

I am new to the Busa seen, just purchased mine. It will be sitting in a crate for the next few weeks until it warms up (Chicago). I have already started looking around for mods, but am a bit overwhelmed with the information on this site. My last bike was an '02 Yamaha R6, so a Micron 4-2-1 with a Factory jet kit did the trick. The Busa is a totally different animal. I like the look of the dual exhaust, and can't imagine needing much of a power gain from stock (Won't know until I ride it). For this reason, I'd like to keep the 4-2 dual setup. What dual options are available, and also, if I just get slip-ons, do I still need use the PCIII to alter the fuel maps? I know this topic has been discussed a million times, but maybe somebody can give me a quick answer.

With Just slip ons you shouldn't need a PCIII, but I think it is recommended that you just get the fueling tweaked if there is any issues. If you want a real sweet 4-2 system check out HMF, they are doing some cool things. Otherwise Micron, Yoshimura, are good for more sound without spooking the neighbors, while D&D makes some pipes that will really get heard.

Myself, I am still hoping that Yoshimura comes to it's senses and makes a TRS Tri-Oval slip on for the Busa, otherwise I'll prolly get some Microns or maybe something a little unusual. Something like Devil, Remus, Arrow, I dunno...

So basically you shouldn't have to re-map with just slip ons. The bonus of a full system on the busa with a pair removal and a PCIII is the loss of about 20 lbs.

I am going with the HMF dual hi-mounts come tax season.  They make great power and I like the looks.  With the dual set-up, price is an issue.  Slip-ons are ALOT cheaper, but you get very little performance/weight reduction.  There are tons of slip-ons available, just go with what you like if you go this route.

WELCOME TO THE BOARD... 4-2-1 = WEIGHT LOSS AND MORE PERFORMANCE... HMF DOES LOOK GOOD.. BY THE WAY WHAT PART OF CHI ARE U IN...

First decide what it is you are after --- Sound or Performance. If its just more sound get a set of slip-ons and use the extra money for additional mods. If you are looking for performance gains and weight loss and you have the funds get a full exhuast, HMF, D&D, and several others make a dual sided exhaust. If you want max weight saving and performance go single side exhaust. Keep in mind if you go full exhaust you ARE GOING TO NEED a PC III to tweak the bike for max performance. Ok thats my $.02
