I went to start up "my other love" and she turned over about 5times real slow and that was it!!!!
She wud not start.
My shop DOES NOT EVER go below 55 F ever!I start her up at least once a week and i even took her for a ride on Jan 1 07.
Is this normal? Its an 06 with only 5000 km's on it.
Any feed back on this wud be welcomed,i'm puzzled!!!!
Thank you in advance,
Reiny

if you have just been starting it up and letting it idle for a little while before cutting it off, it doesn't allow the battery to recharge...you might want to look at getting a trickle charger to keep her topped off any time she is going to sit there for a while

Do you have any mods that could allow for charge leakage, like an alarm? Have you done any work to her where you have had the accessories on for any length of time? Any chance you have a bad connection or corrosion preventing contact with the terminals? have you lifted the seat and taken a look?

Nope, no mods and i have the seat off as we speak with a battery charger on it.Everything looks to be in order, no corrosion or anything like that.

I've had the same problem with my 06 after sitting for long periods of time, but I didnt even crank it up for a month. So after riding it for a while yesterday (so it could charge), I unhooked the battery. 4700 miles on mine.

Bike won't charge under 2500 RPM. Be careful charging the battery with an automotive type charger, it will cook it. Best bet is to get a battery tender and hard wire it directly to the battery and plug it in when not riding it.

Thanks for your replies.I've put a battery maintainer on it and it started after about 1 hour. The first battery charger i put on it was a "car type charger and it did NOTHING.
So,i'll be keeping it on the battery tender, from time to time, and i'm going to buy and xtra strong Yuasa battery just to have on hand.

This place rocks!

friday night, i put my battery tender on my battery. saturday, i rode to several different places, and it would crank fine when i went to leave. 3rd place i stopped, which was about 15 +/- miles, it would not start back up. the battery is the original from 03. it has gone dead several times and i think its time to replace. should have a new one in on tuesday.

Same experience. If it didn't start in first gear but in neutral, those were the symptoms I experienced until I put a new battery in. 05 Busa.

do you lock your steering? Would hate for it to be something simple like turning the key too far and leaving the rear brake light on without knowing it!!

Battery tender, only way to go. My 03 is still on the oem battery, I just plug her in if it's going to be more then a few days before the next ride. Be careful trying to start her with a low batt, she'll kick back and possibly break the starter drive. Worse on the pre '03's. When this one goes, she's getting an Optima gell battery, quality second to none but $$$$.

(tinbender0 @ Jan. 30 2007,19:50) I'm suprised they don't make a better battery, or do they???
Stock battery is a good battery. It just depends on who fills and charges it when you buy the bike and if they do it right that determins how long its going to last you. Also turning the key to park instead of off is a big reason why alot of people kill their new battery.

(Revolution @ Jan. 28 2007,12:50) cold kills a battery right?
cold, heat, vibration, and of course load. I've heard the Busa doesn't begin charging until RPMs exceed 2K.

Need to take good rides or buy a battery tender.

thanks dadof3, i heard below freezing kills 'em.

i usually bring mine in for winter and put it on the battery tender inside the house where it's warm.
