I took my baby out for a spin today, and since she's got 800 miles on her, and I've been through 2 oil changes, I decided to get a little more aggressive in the twisties around my area... And just after reading the thread on what it's supposed to feel like when you hit the rev limiter, I got currious... Guess what???

In first I hit 11,250 rpm, 2nd and 3rd was the same, and I did this from a complete stop, and twice cause I didn't beleive my eyes the first time... I was affraid to push her more cause that's up there in the red!

I thought the rev limiter was supposed to kick in at 10,500 rpm??? Is 11,250 rpm going to hurt my baby or did suzi change something for 2006? Anybody have the same thing happen?

I wonder what the GPS would say at 11,250 rpm in 6th gear???

I'm not an expert by any means, but I've heard the limiter is only active in 6th. Experts can you confirm?

On the thread below people are saying they are hitting the rev limiter in gears 1, 2 and 3 etc... ?

It's ~11,300 in 1st through 5th. It's lower in 6th for the sole purpose of limiting the speed to 186.

through a few mods I hit the limiter in 4th and 5th gear and it feels like I am being tugged at. It even catches me off gaurd because the bike pulls to the limiter in each gear without falling out before the limiter. I hear the a stocker the bike lets out steam at 9.5k?

Limiter is 10,800 ACTUAL.  The tach usually reads high, which is like 11,300*INDICATED* on my bike.  Every bike is different though....

I thought you weren't supposed to rev higher than 8,000rpm until you put 1,000 miles on the clock.

There are varying opinions on break-in... some say ride it like you will down the road, and it will run stronger, others say follow standard break-in from MFG....

I don't think there will be a big diff being only 200 miles under the 1K sugg. AND, I could'nt wait any longer

It's getting darn cold in IL, and I needed to know if the power was enough to make me happy, or if I wanted to add turbo over the winter...
