2013 Yamaha R1

I tried steering him towards the ZX10 originally but he hates the rear tail section and im not all that crazy about it either. plus it looks like a mini bike and he would hardly fit on that thing. u have like what u own. the KTM is by far the best lookn bike out there next to the HP4 but the HP4 is $9k more.

its hard to beat the KTM at 405 lbs and a dry sump oiling system. it doesnt have all that garbage bikes have these days that no one really needs which is why its so light and stable at the track.

plus the tires that come on the KTM are not available anywhere else unless you want to import them from the UK for like $700.

he will never take it the track but it is quite nimble and I sat on one and its very comfortable to sit on. I really wanted him to get the BMW at first but now im sterring him towards the KTM.

I have a 2010 R1 with a Graves low mount PC5 w/ autotune. Its an awesome bike. Power wise it should be about 160hp 80tq at the tire with its current mods. Feels similar to my Busa, and it puts down 163hp 97tq to the ground. The Graves exhaust saves a chunk of weight. I haven't put it on a scale but it doesn't feel much heavier than the GSXR 600 I had and it weighed 410lbs with a full tank. I don't mind the seating position, and the looks are growing on me. I have a blast every time I ride it.

I kinda like it. I have no experience on a 2013 but the 2012 model is outstanding. Since 2012 Yamaha put M1 tech into the R1 (the M1 is the Yamaha's superbike for Moto GP), pistons and valves are no longer 4/1 - 2/3 but now they are 1-2-3-4 also, traction control and some other cool electronics are added since this year. Without doubt, my second favorite liter bike. Right after the HP4

The current R1 has had the crossplane crankshafts since 2009. Cool looking, yes especially the 2013's, but for a street bike, there is at least 5 better options

the bike weighs 455 lbs. so I dont know how it could feel like a gsxr 600 at 410 lbs. the KTM may feel like a 600 at 405 lbs. but not the R1.

I do think they look great from the front tho. love the new Audi-style LED lights up front.

My bike has a Graves low mount exhaust, that's 15lbs lighter than stock. Plus some other things have been changed or deleted.
