220 MPH Faceplate change.

hey Pop,

I also have some 220mph gauges, going to use the speedo healer.... plenty of folks here have both though I have seen some cool mods with the speedo healer so I'm going that route.

If you are WY, you better be registered and coming to the meet in CO in Aug

Went with the SpeedoHealer because of cost and a couple of the features. Both probably equally capable, but felt better going with the SH.

where sould I buy the speedo healer...any thoughts?

WELL!!!

Share the "plenty of cool mods."

Don't keep all those ideas to yourself man.

Due tell, I'll listen.

First, check out the <a href="http://www.speedohealer.com">SpeedoHealer site<a> and see if you want the regular or custom kit. Only a couple differences, but decide which one you want. You can order directly from them (where I ordered mine) or the place I would have gone with was <a href="http://www.calsportbike.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?pid=800">Cal Sportsbike<a>.

For perfect accuracy, GPS is the only way. But it does cost more and you have to mount it somewhere, just depends how accurate you're talking about...

OK let's just say...which of the 2 are more accurate.

I would say they are both equally accurate though I haven't used the Yellow Box. You would need to use a GPS to measure accuracy, but after appropriate setting adjustments I think they are 99% on.

Thanx Fellas:

I do have a GPS for my other passion....hunting.

The coolest thing I saw about the speedohealer is the fact that you can have a button mounted up front that, when pressed, recalls your highest speed.

That would be pretty cool. Say you and your friend are alone on the highway and you both punch it for the hell of it. (I've done it plenty of times.) Well while your punchin it you always try to sneak a peak at the speedo cause when you both slow down you yell over what you hit. Well now you don't have to worry about that...and you can keep your eyes on the road at all times....which is important at 150+! Then when you lay off the throttle you can push the button and see what you hit.

I, personlly, want to get that.

Remember when ordering that feature you may want something longer than the built in timer for displaying the top speed. I think it comes at 6 seconds (from 0 mph to top speed and back to 0) normally, but the speedo may actually take longer than 3 seconds to get all the way to the top speed. So, you may actually get cheated without having them customize that part with something like an 8 second timer.

I got the 220 mph gauges that are white by day and blue by night. I bought the Yellow Box because I wanted to keep my installation simple. The bar mounted recall switch, with my luck, is just something else for me to break.

I'm getting the gauges installed this weekend plus getting most of the rear fender trimmed off to blend in with my BDE Hindle street megaphone system and LED integrated taillight and signals. My bike's not gonna look too bad when this is done. If it's looking good I'll send pics after the temperature gets high enough for me to detail it.

I asked the following question on another thread and the silence is deafening: with the 220 mph speedo and recalibrator, did you notice that when you turn the key and the needles sweep that the speedo needle stops at the same clock position as on the original gauge, which is about 190 mph. Does this mean that if your speed was over 190 the needle would stop at 190?
