2CT's - first thoughts

Well yesterday it hit 66 here so I had the REDEEMER out for a few hours. With the new 2CTs on and warmed up, I've noticed one thing by far: I sense an immediate DRAG type feeling once they are grabbing the ground.. and when I say DRAG, I don't mean it makes me want to put on womens clothing.. I mean I feel like I have to hit the throttle a little more to speed up. I think all in all it's a GOOD thing that I'm getting this feeling from the tires, but I have not yet had a chance to go into any tight turns with them. All I know is that if I'm getting the sensation that I'm needing more throttle, that it's good to know that I'm more GLUED to the road!

That's my first official feedback on the tires- stay tuned for more once I get out a little more on them!

2ct's are great tires!
Concur, Lamb.

I've used nothing but 2CTs since I've been replacing tires. I have the utmost confidence in them...and have achieved unheard of mileage from them.

Reportedly, there's a new 2CT called "2CT Road". The 'road' part of the deal is about the compound which is the center strip being a much denser compound allowing the owner to get approximately 2K more miles out of them. That's a significant increase. The other compound, the two outer strips, remains the same grippy grabby stuff they've been using.

Next set I get are going to be the 2CT Roads so I can test 'em out.

I hope you find the ones you're reporting on to be a good tire for you. They get lots of good press.

There are 2 types of tires.

Pilot Power 2cts Michelin's website rates them a 5 in grip
Pilot Road2s Michelin's website rates them a 4 in grip

So they are both dual compound, but the PP2cts have more grip while the road2s will last longer.

I've seen dealerships inflate pretty low so yeah, checking them out is a good idea.

I'm not a real fan of the 2ct's. Seem to take a long time to warm up.

All I run are PP 2CT's. I have never had a problem w/ slow warm up & have never had them push or break loose even at full lean. Great tires. I got 4224 miles out of my last rear. I run 35# front 36# rear seems to work best for me. The best traction I have seen is w/ outside temperatures around 80-85.

I love em

My Corsa3's did the exact opposite..

when I put on the new rubber last week the bike felt like it "freed" up...

Most notable was that the steering went from a 5 effort to a 3 and the bike feels really light going into corners (turns in ultra fast) 36/36 psi

It's really starting to sound like they are underinflated then on my bike. Why would those asshats do that with new tires??

Kevin Allen with Pirelli suggests you run 34 front and 36 rear (Cold) on your corsa III's for street use. For track use, 32 front and 34 rear (cold).

You may very well (Arguably) have the best street tires in the industry. The corsa III has 2.5 times as much medium grade (SC2)race rubber on the shoulders as does the PP 2ct. The corsa III front is a single compound, unlike the PP 2ct, it's entire tread area is only slightly altered to improve wet grip from the Pirelli Super Corsa Race SC2 medium race tire.

I would rate the Corsa III at the top of the list in all around performance with Dunlop's Qualifier running a very close second place. I have Corsa III's on one GSXR1000 and Qualifiers on the other GSXR1000, both tires perform flawlessly.

Anybody try the Sport HPX by Michelin? Supposedly designed for Hyperbikes?

those are older, more expensive, slipperier, don't last any better than any other tire. first tires I burned on purpose so I could replace them. yech. just MY experience and opinions.

I wasn't a huge fan of the PP tires. Haven't tried the 2CT's yet. But I suspect it's just an updated version of the original PP.

PRC's, however, are a different thing.
