2nd round buybacks stink!!!

NIGHTFLIGHT

Banned
WE RAINED OUT SAT only a few showed up sunday 4 makeup race.
4 in street et only 3 in pro-et
I GOT THE BY RUN THEN BEAT THE OTHER REMAINING RIDER WE WERE LAST 2 IN PRO-ET.So im putting my stuff away only going pay $72 but money is money. The squirell I beat who used 2 be a friend goes and buys back calling it a second round buy back.I went complained @ tower told them that was final run. However my complaints fell on deff ears.I was mad and then foolishy banged a -005 rt +lost.WHat im plotting now 2 prove a point is sit out 2nd round+just buy back.Or 2 be safe just go up 2nd round push my bike thru beams soon as i stage and turn my bike around +ride back+buy back in.
I can deal with 1st round buy backs but 2nd is just stupid.Least I did pull into 2nd place in points do have chance @ goldcard.IM NOT GOING RACE 2ND ROUND IM JUST GOING TOSS A $20 AND ADVANCE TO THIRD 2 PROVE A POINT.

any buy-backs are ghey.... only reason they are in place is so that the track can make a few extra $$... sux as an employee too.. adds about 2 hours to the day when you end up with 3 extra rounds due to "losers racing losers"

I feel ya bro!!

Im about look 4 new place 2 race.
Im going play games next sat.
How about go 2 line 2nd round shut bike off stage.
Get off bike+stand there let other guy go then break beams turn around and go back.
Then buy back  Place turning into a joke.

the last three tracks I have been to are all the same garbage... sort of reminds me of giving trophy's to every kid that plays soccer win/lose....

Greed (well perhaps the costs of operations)by the tracks is killing off some racers enthusiasm (and you better be passionate to stick with any racing)

I would rather they just jack the entry fee by a % and screw off the buy back thing..

our track does the same thing, 1st round is cool but second round buy backs are not....sounds like your track needed the $$$ since you got rained out...

Buy back? Never heard of it before (I've got no experience with this stuff but I'm discovering local tracks so that I can get into it casually in over the next year). Sounds like the buy back thing makes money for the track by taking the race of the races. :(

Randy - what's garbage about boosting a kid's morale for participating in soccer? At 5 years old, they aren't pro's and most don't even have fundamentals. They went out and gave it their all - and to me, that makes them winners regardless of the score.

Back on topic - I don't get it, what's a buy-back?

say you get put out first round and you want to race again, you can buy-back your spot for say 20 bucks, then you can race again....

Wow, I can see lots of uses for that...

Whoops, sucked on my job interview, here's a 20 spot, give me another chance...

Dang, shouldn't have suggested we get nekkid, here's $20, forget that suggestion..

Crap, told her she did look fat in those jeans, here's $20, you look great honey.

On and on....

Sounds like those people who lose and then say "2 out of 3". You lost, get over it....

was kind of my point on the soccer kids... gotta learn to lose as well as win.. 5 year olds? suppose that the early lesson sticks the best good or bad?

Just such a competitive world we live in when it comes to jobs etc, teaching this "its ok to be mediocre" just strikes me as off tilt...

cry, get mad, get determined and then get ahead....

Agreed they need to learn how to lose (and lose gracefully). I guess a big debate would be what age. I've seen 7 year old kids have so much pressure to win that when the team lets them down, they just break down. Parents call them losers or worse yet, blame the officials or coaches - hey, it's a team sport. Even Jordan didn't win every game.

I coach soccer and never coach mediocrity. Go out there and do your best. There is always someone better than you, but if you play as a team, you can beat any individual.

I've seen too many kids quit playing a sport because they were on a bad team and were taught if you lose, you're a failure. Besides, they didn't even have the basic skills to learn how to dribble or pass. We all start somewhere, right? Jordan's coach told him he couldn't play BBall, what if he had listened?

I just think that when they are still developing, we celebrate the fun of playing as well as winning - not say if we don't win, we didn't have fun and we're losers and failures.

I see where you are coming from Randy, and I'm with you bud. Your point about coddling the kids and telling them it's ok has me worried for this generation entering the workforce that can't handle criticism. That's another topic though...

:hijack:

When I lose @ the track I go shake the guys hand+tell him good job.
Not in this case I didnt.Man I POPED A -005 THAT WAS ON DELAY TIMER.I HAD JUST KNOCKED 5 DIGETS OUT OF IT SHOULDNT HAVE TOUCHED IT.THEN THE GUY RUNS A 7.05 ON A 6.50 DIAL IN HE HAD PROBS.

THE 2 PROBS 2 ME WERE

1-WE WERE ONLY 2 LEFT THATS CALLED FINALS
2-SHOULDNT HAVE RACE GUY YOU JUST BEAT AGAIN.

I DO THE DRAW+LADDER THERE 4 PRO-ET IM TEMPTED GIVE MYSELF BY RUN NEXT WEEK.

He gets last pick.Im not giving up lane choice ether if both want same we flip.

And I gave the guy prefered parking pass 4 nhra race cost $25 nice payback.

the pressure to WIN at any cost from parents..... I think maybe the parents should have to wait in the car myself... :)

Now where is my CC so I can do a third round Buy back...

My track doesn't do buybacks, but they do allow time trails after your out if the track isn't too busy. If your a newbie, its hard to develop your skills by spending all day waiting for 1 or 2 qaulification runs and then going out on first round. We want to encourage the new guys to race with the regulars, and letting them jump into time trials after they are eliminated is a good way to race and to practive. The economy has sucked so bad this year that attendance on the regular race series has been WAY down. We've got to encourage the new guys to get into the sport to replace (eventually) all the old farts like me.

Thats why i dont bracket race. It sucks all the way around. If you cant out run me, i gotta spot you three lights or what ever just so you can give a boggis dial in and hammer it at the big end or jump on brakes. Or if that dont work just buy back. when i go to the track i run who ever"s there heads up. win, lose,or draw. run what ya brung hope ya brung enuff! THATS RACING:rulez:

yea heads up is true racing but "finances" just do not allow that for most... I do not mind bracket (dial in) racing but all the electronics and buy backs make it an excersize in repetitive nonsense... you dial in, run the car yourself and when you lose? you are out.. letting guys run time runs between rounds as long as they are out is fine... sissified racing equals $$ for the tracks and parts suppliers.. guy has to invest in three grand in electronics now days to stay competitive with the guys that can not get off the line on time..
