Did a little better:

1st 2nd 3rd
R/T .053 .411 .243
60' 2.204 1.887 1.916
330 ? ? 4.703
1/8 7.282 6.953 6.937
MPH 109.89 108.65 109.49
1000 9.210 8.893 8.863
1/4 10.871 10.545 10.519
MPH 135.86 135.91 135.78

Raced Harleys every pass, every one of 'em beat me to the 60' bad. My launches still suck. I took Josh's advice and shifted without the clutch, and that helped, plus I think I was shifting too soon last week. I drove around them, the closest was a Sportser drag bike at 11.107. On the 2nd run, I decided not to grab another gear just before the top end, but hit the rev limiter before the trap. Same situation on the last pass, but I grabbed a gear just before hitting the trap.

Damn, this poop is fun.

BTW: the AHDRA guys were all out there tonight, getting ready for the weekend race - tons of them, like wall to wall Harleys. Funny thing, they didn't spit on my bike, nor tip it over, or even give me a dirty look. In fact, 3 or 4 of them came up and asked about the busa. Motorcycle people, my kinda people...

LCW,

Looking good!

Your times will keep coming down the more practice you get. 10.5's aren't bad for your second time on the track.

Just a few questions!?!?

Are you getting to full throttle in first gear before you have to shift? If you are, work on your clutch lever LESS shifts a little more. Your MPH is just a tad low. You should be able to break 138-140mph with your weight in the 1/4-mile!

Also you need to get the clutch out quicker!

Go to your secret spot and just work on your launches. You should be launching so quick/smooth that the front tire is almost coming 1" or 2"s off the ground. If you aren't comfortable with that yet, work on getting the throttle open quicker and the clutch out sooner!

You are loosing 90% of your time on the starting line. Just a rule of thumb, for every tenth you knock of your 60" is about 2-tenths in the 1/4-mile. Get your 60" in the low 1.7's and you are looking at 10.1-.2.

Get that extra E/T & MPH out of your quicker shifts and you are in the 9's!

Have fun and be safe!

Yep. I'm just not aggressive enough on the launch. On my 2nd pass, a big Harley street bike got such a jump on me that I saw him ahead of me. That motivated me to get a little more aggressive, but it was too late. I think part of it is nerves - when I practice launches off the track, I carry the front, no problem. On the track, I'm thinking too much about the tree. Practice...

Thanks for the tips and encouragement

good run... I can't wait till the track opens here.... wonder what I can run for the first time.

I'm planning on going out on Friday. Now I'm down 2" in the rear, strapped up front, and the clutch cushion with the HD springs is in. And down a tooth on the front if I can find the time before Friday...

Did you put the rubber mounts under the step-up on the seat for support? If not it's going to break! Trust me. The seat is ok but not what I expected, when I shift into 2nd and finally get the throttle wide open the power pushes me against the step and it collapses. Very uncomfortable feeling! I origionally didn't have the rubber supports in and it cracked, maybe that's why it collapses?

Trim the edges of the seat back where it touches your bodywork and put some door edge molding on it. The carbon fiber is going to eat your bodywork whereever it's rubbing it.

No, I didn't put any supports under the rear, and yes, it's tearing up the paint underneath. What did you use for supports?
