4" stretch max for stock tail?

Looking thru old posts and other forums etc, and using the eyeball / tape measure, it seems like 4" over stock is the longest you would go and be able to lower the bike the most as well (considering rubbing etc)?
6" would be nice but I worry about tire rub and being able to get the bike low enough for my likeing. 4" seems to center the tire in the tail section.

I had +6, 240 and lowered with trashcan mod and would rub on big bumps. I had heavier spring that would eliminated that, but never installed.

4" IMO is perfect on a Gen2 looks wise. I'd gone with 4 if SBCustoms had offered their arm in a 4.
