49 State Fuel tank

Has anyone actually attempted to mount a 49 state (5.5 gallon) tank to a California (5.0 gallon) frame and were you successful?

I probably should have elaborated a bit more so here goes. The problem is that the CA tank has a valve and tube that goes back to the evap canister and a check signal is sent to the ECU. Blocking the valve is a piece of cake but...fooling the ECU is a different story. Any ideas?

Yeah, I'd like to know too 'cause I brought my CA model out to NM last year. Did you have to do something with the throttle bodies? What year was your bike?

Etc, etc!!!

There are no wires, only emissions hoses. There is no way the canister can effect the ECU. I simply pulled the canister off and all the hoses.

So the long hose that goes from the canister to the throttle body (it is a two hose set, acutally) is removed at the throttle body? Do you have to plug the opening then? Or just let air go in there?
Also, I have been thinking about whether it is possible to simply use the non-cali tank with the canister. If one routes the tank water drain hose in a regular fashion and attaches the tank breather hose to the canister, would that work?
