So I found out this weekend that the Meet N Greet will be occurring on the
9th and 10th of October. It seems that Semi and Twotonevert had the dates all ready and have been making the plans... We were not sure if anyone still wanted to come to the house this year but it appears so. We are thrilled to be hosting this again and all are welcome...
As in the past there is no cost to attend but we do need to start getting a count so we can buy food and make preparations. We have slept up to 25 in our house, we had folks in beds, on couches, on the floor and sleeping in trailers they brought. We never wanted someone not to come because of money, if you can get here and buy your own breakfast and lunch on Sat then the rest is covered. On Friday we always make a huge two pot stew and have it cooking all afternoon as folks start coming in. We have had members that come from Delaware, Illinois, Arkansas, Texas, Missouri and Oklahoma.
We stay up late and there are a lot of laughs... I mean A LOT! We hand out prizes too, last year the professor won a puppy!
We will make sure you have a full stomach and a place to sleep, not the Holliday in but it will be warm, bring a sleeping bag and find a place to put your head down... We have plenty of room for travel trailers and if you want to pitch a tent we have 30 acres for you to use..
If you want to stay in a hotel there are several in Norman just 20 minutes away, the Casino just opened a new hotel and it is just 6 miles....
Sat usually consist of everyone getting up and going to eat breakfast in Norman just a few miles away. Last year we broke off from there and those that brought bikes went on about a half day ride and many of the others went shopping with the ladies in Guthrie Oklahoma. There is a Casino just 6 miles on the hwy from the house and several went there too.
Sat night is grill night, we will have food for you, not sure of the menu yet. But rest assured there will be plenty... We stay up late, laugh, tell jokes and honestly build some great friendships... I will be instituting a new hot tub squatters rule in which no one will be allowed to stay in the water more than an hour unlike last year where 5 hours seemed to be the average (SEMI)....
