5 lugs on a fox

I know that there are alot of past & present stang owners here and I need some insight... I have a 90gt and want to convert it to 5 lug & disk on back. thinking the cheapest / best will get a 94-98 donor. anyone done this?:please:

You can get 93 cobra axles and rotors and calipers that should bolt right up. That will allow you to keep the 4 lug set up and not change, unless you are running some big numbers, why do the conversion if you dont have to? My fox had 4 lugs, but I had the set up listed above for rear disc brakes. I changed the discs to drilled and slotted powerstop rotors. Any reason you want the 5 lugs? I know you will have more wheel options for a 5 lug set up, but I had the cobra wheels anyway and you can get those from Summit for a set of 4, with tires, for just under a grand in 4 lug.

Then you will most likely need to get into the SN95's, but I dont know enough about them to comment. How about some pics of this project?

Run a search on Corral or Stangnet There will be many more comprehensive answers there.
Lots of folks have done the swap using an SN-95 stang. From what I recall, the front spindle/knuckle needs a stack of shims/washers to work.

yeah, that an adapter for the calliper, and another on the booster. read alot of articles about the swap, seems doable...just was hoping someone here had done something similar so if I got into a bind (confused), I'd have a better chance on getting quick advice.

hasn't changed much in the past 5 years...maybe gotten worse:whistle: I don't think since we got it 15 years ago it ever looked as nice as the one you had James, whoever got it lucked out.:beerchug:

look at the SVo 4 cly turbo mustangs as well as the Turbo coupe Thunderbirds. Both had front and rear disk, the gt master cylinder and booster both move enough fluid to give great breaking. I have owned MANY fox mustangs and this is the best was to do the swap out for 4 wheel disk, and they are 5 lug lol

Only problem with the turbocoupe or ranger axles is that they stick out farther than fox axles, limiting you to a 275 rear tire or smaller, depending on wheels. Cheapest would be sn95 swap

Turbo coupe axles are 4 lug. So if he were going to stay with 4 lug he would not need the axles as they are the smae spline count as a gt 8.8 rear end. Only reason I said to use them is that they were 4 whel disk, and she can swap the rear brake sets out.

The 2.3 turbo 4cly SVO mustang runs a 5 lug bolt pattern, it is the cheapest way to go 5 lug. Yes a SN95 rear will bolt in, but then you got to gear the rear as most have a 3.08. the SVO has 3.55 in vert cars

And the SVO front brakes will bolt right on to any fox car.

The SVO turbo five lug set-up was adapted from a Lincoln MK7. The rear axles are nearly 1.5 inches wider on each side and that width increase includes the front as well. This was Ford Parts bin engineering at it's best. The wheel offset required for this setup is not the best choice for a 5.0 guy. However, the track width increase was looked upon favorably by the engineers of the SVO Turbo because of handling benefits.
When I went to four wheel discs on my old 85GT I just used the T-Bird Turbo stuff because I had nice four lug wheels already.

The cheap five lug (rear drum) conversion Ford used to sell was based on the Ranger stuff. One of the ranger axle shafts is shorter thus equal in length to the Stang. I think it is the driver's side axle that they pair up for the kits.

Call Blake or WL @ 1-800-475-7223,ask for the conversion kit they sell.
