I have heard all of the talk of having to cram into 6th gear; however, my problem is different. While riding home in 6th, my bike is going into neutral and clanking. This occurs many miles after I have shifted from 5th to 6th. Did it twice the other night. Even pulling in the clutch afterwards does not eleminate the clanking. I usually pull over and proceed to downshift at a standstill carefull not to jam it into gear. Anyone else have this problem? HELP!!!!

Thats not the usual situation, geter back to the dealer tomorrow. You have a problem.

I agree, get it in. You've got a problem.

For the record: My Busa shifts better than any bike I've owned, even before the 700 mile oil change.

I had some shifting problems to at first, had to really kick the shift lever. Had quite a few miss shifts. A couple times it popped out of gear and clanked.. I am assuming I didn't have the dogs engaged all the way...

The shifting drastically improved with milage, I made of point of doing ALOT of shifting... No after it's first service it is awesome... hehe the only time I use 6th is when I need to be in stealth mode...

Why does it shift better after the first service? I mean what magic do they do? Is it the oil change that makes the difference?

I took the shifter off of the piviot and greased it, it did help. After riding about 20 miles this past sun. I was in the process of shifting from 5th to 6th at 3000 rpm's, and I wasn't accelerating or decelerating just cruising, it didn't go, just went into neutral. I quickly pulled the clutch in and slowed a little then kicked it down to 5th. I was thinking maby I didn't lift it up enough (shifter). I proceeded to re-try the same suituation, same result. This happened once before but not twice in a row and only seems to happen when cruising and after it was ridden for a distance. On the way home I tried it accelerating and had no problem at all. I also have no trouble downshifting at all. I am praying that this isn't serious and will go away, if anyone knows of a fix, please let me know. I have 200 mi. on the bike now.

You sound like I did only less panic stricken. Relax. Make sure you adjust the shifter and rear brake down to your taste. Their way to high from the factory. Then take my word for it, dont ever use the clutch when going from 5th to 6th. It simply is not necessary. Also try to put the bike under at least a little bit of a load when you shift, it doesnt like loafing. You'll be allright.
