What is the 7 pin connector for beside the dealer mode connector. Is it a means to reprogram the ecu? I have a Haynes Service Manual and it shys away from it.

Need pic.

Took me a while to get to it. I had to remove the tail because it was hard to reach. I took this pic with my phone camera so don't expect a high quality pic. Any ideas what it is for?

ECU diagnostic connector.. not much you can do with it (recover FI codes)

Nah.  Your thinking about the one that you can barely see beside it(Dealer Mode).  It only has two wires connected the plug.  I used that one a few times.  I am talking about the one close to it in the picture.  It has 7 wires going to it and in the schematic the wires run to the ecu but the other end is not labled as to what it is for.  My thinking is that it is some source as to reprogram the ecu like in some cars and trucks where they have after market devices that reprogram your ecu and remove speed restrictors and all that good stuff.

Is for checking codes, but what people don't know is before power commanders there was the yosh box. Its like a power commander, but you plug it into that seven pin connector and it maps your stock ecu, unlike the power commander, which fools your sencors. I had a yosh box for my 2002 limited edition busa, and it worked great, and was easy to install maps, plus it did't stay on the bike. Bought the 08 busa, so I did not need it anymore, so I sold it to a guy with a 2002 busa with a turbo, he needed it to remove fuel at 3,500 rpm.

That connector is where I plug in my Factory Pro Teka unit to reprogram the stock ECU. other than that I don't know what else you use it for, Also the Yosh tuning box plugs in at the same connector.

Oh yeah. I forgot about the Teka from Factory Pro and the Yoshi Box. I did not know that they utilize that plug for tuning. I still wonder if it can also be a means to remove the top speed restrictor.

Regarding limiters - there is well over 30 limiters, softcut, fullcut - both fuel and ignition.[/quote]

I wouldn't mess with it unless you're sure you know what you're doing.

I have a spare ecu for my bike I picked up for a $100 some time ago. I got the ecu, wiring harness, front calipers and a few other parts for that low price. Was a good deal huh. I may fool around with that ecu and experiment a little.
