A friend of mine is considering buying this bike. We should be going to look at it this weekend. Any red flags here? Any good clever questions to ask about the "motor work" done? Can you bore a 750 to 850??? Ive never heard of it...
Opinions please:thumbsup: The Org always has all the answers:beerchug:

I wouldn't let that stop you from lookin at it though, it may still be a good bike.

looks like a legit ad to me... but you never know... Def one to see in person...

maybe ask for receipts for the engine work? ???

I would say yes you could.
used to be alot more material in the motors back then but WHO DID THE WORK is absolutely key.
Anybody can ream out a cylinder but to do it right and have it hold together is another thing .

90-97 you could go up to 955cc just wasn't cheap. 750's can put down some pretty crazy numbers! Worth mentioning, when you take that much out, not much left in the event anything wears / breaks. Might be due for a new motor altogether if that let's go because you will not be able to bore it anymore. I would also be asking for plenty of receipts. GL to your buddy, personally I would take the HP loss and spend the money on something newer and closer to original.

its not an air-oil cooled.....and its not a 750w(water-cooled)....its an SRAD, and you cannot get 850cc out of an SRAD. well maybe if you stroked the crank, and added the big-bore pistons.

but if the $$ was spent to stroke the crank, he would have listed it...

Can you please clarify that statement ?
If it aint air cooled and its not water cooled then what is it ?
I did not realize there was a 3rd design of engine ?
Arent all motors either air or watercooled no matter the vehicle ?
SRAD means Suzuki Ram Air Direct which means it has ram air on the front of it as most bikes do nowadays.

the first gen. were air-oil cooled....those can be modded to over 900cc's

second generation was watercooled, and had a W designation (GSXR-750w) it was still the same basic design as the older engines, but with a water cooled head.

the SRAD,was the first redesign of the engine with a downdraft design(cylinders slanted forward)....totally new motor, and perimeter frame.

the SRAD is a more modern design, its smaller and more compact. less room to bore cyl. for big pistons. it had those big SRAD stickers, so lots of people call it SRAD.
