The runs have to be at a NHRA track. You have to have a Physical prior to the runs. Take your paperwork to the tower and talk to the someone there. They will find someone to sign for you if you do not know anyone at the track. I think you will find most people very helpful. I did.

Has to be someone at the track. And they have to witness your runs. I think it is still 3 passes isn't it?? Track owner and a fellow racer signed off on mine.

You must have three other people with licenses to sing off your paper work and the track manager. All must be done at the track. Must make six passes in all. 2 lanch passes 2 1/2 passes and 2 full passes. Just make sure you talk to the track manager to see want he wants you to do.

Each pass has to be signed by 2 licensed Drivers/riders and the track manager. They do not have to be the same day or track. At least the final 2 passes have to be on a 1/4 mile track. All passes must be solo passes. The signing drivers. drivers should be the same class license or faster.

I went through the process up till the final 2 runs and was not fast enough until late last season. Because the license expires with your physical date, I decided to wait. I just took my Physical again 2 weeks ago and plan on starting the process over the next time I'm testing.

Here is the app, it has more details.

they just want to make sure you can handle the bike,so moderate passes ect and nthen on you last passes if you dont go into the 9's you dont get it!!!!...make sure your consistiantly in the 9's before trying..

also track charged me $75 to make lic passes..good thing they didnt mess around and let you go ahead of everyone else ect..

I went through this last year for my dragster and door car licences.

Basically the first run is just to the 60ft. mark or farther then just click off.
They want to see that you have control of the bike.

The next 2-3 runs are out to the 1/8 or just past then click it off.

The last two are all out.

Your track director and rider witness will then fill in the times and sign off each run.

You then send in the license form, physical form, and your money to the NHRA Divisional office you live in.

About ten days later it's in the mail.

This is a fun process and NO ONE is trying to push you too fast. Enjoy!!

licensing is fun, had to do it to run a super comp dragster and now this year have to do it to run the busa. oh the joys of licensing!!

run a test and tune night or friday night street race at your local track. usually the night at the track where they let four wheelers, 4x4 trucks and geo metro's run down the 1/8th or 1/4 mile is the nite you want to run 9's without a license, very rarely will they kick you out as long as it is not an actual event.

You must also have a NHRA membership. I think the rules need to be changed...9.99 is just not that big of deal anymore. Should be quicker.
