These shots were taken by one of our Life Force helicopter crews. The path of this tornado was a little north of TwoBrothersBusa and me. I was actually headed down I-75 and had to pull over to let the storm cross in front of my car. Given the weather we've had over the past year, it would appear that we have been annexed into Tornado Alley. :banghead:

Evidently tornado alley has expanded to include us both. I feel for all y'all brother.

Be safe up there. I'll be setting up a shelter installation at our house this week.

Man I am so sorry for everyone. I prey for all. I just told my wife that I sure hope and pray that we never have to go through that. I just wish I could fix it.

We had a few bad storms come thru our area yesterday. I watched one go directly over my house. We had some hail and that was all.
After last April the response this week was decisive and immediate.

Best wishes to all who suffered damage from these storms:please:

I've never been scared of storms until I saw what happened last year. So much devastation waaay too close to home. We spent last night in our basement. I hate this stuff.

In the last 3 years we have had 5 touch down within a mile of our home. I've lived in a one mile radius of where I'm at now for 21 years and we never had one closer than 35 miles in the previous 18 years. Something is happening. If you check the amount of tornados that have happened over the past couple of years and compare them to the last 20 you will be shocked.

The best to all folks that dealt with this twister, hope everything gets to normality soon. Thanks for the pics, sad to see but the ultimate power at work!

This was bad, but last year was insane. I think everyone in this area really learned to take the warnings seriously after 4/27/11, and I'd bet that it may have saved some lives yesterday. We spent over a hour below the staircase, as a couple of tornadic supercells went by. It's so early in the season, I'm really not looking forward to the next several months.

We've been talking about it since last year, and I'm now actively shopping for an in-ground shelter. Any suggestions or recommendations are welcomed.

I wish i had the power to help those poor people, that is terrible, hope to GOD nobody was seriously hurt. Those folks homes that sit there unscathed must feel as if they hit the lottery AT LEAST THIS TIME:please:

My heart goes out to you guys. Take care of yourselves.

Prayers go out to all the victims of these terrible storms- Godspeed on recovering there lives back to normal and may everyone Be Safe this season

Daniel, there are several people who are making in-ground shelters out of fiberglass. Dig a hole, drop one in presto chango...but you have to run outside to get in it.

There are others (I saw one the other day at a gun safe dealer) that are being made out of steel, to install somewhere in your home. Usually bolted to concrete. Not sure how good they are, but you don't have to go inside.

Thanks, Keith. I've been searching around the web, and found this site... Tennessee Storm Shelters

It has several good looking options, and all the companies are in TN. I may run over to Jackson this week and take a look at the "Ultimate Underground Shelter" that's featured about 2/3 of the way down on this page.

It's big enough to install a couple of bunks for the (future) kids, and still have room for chairs and a supply cabinet, etc. We'd probably bury it just off the front porch and put up some landscaping around the door and vents.

Thoughts?

I'm not really big on having to go outside to get to it, but we are very proactive with Tornado Warnings and wouldn't wait until it was right on top of us.

We are planning on building our next house, and ideally, would like to have a basement with poured walls and a heavy concrete slab ceiling with multiple entrances throughout the house.
