it seems as if in the last few years here in mississippi the attitude out on the interstate is one of aggresion and stupidity, on the city streets it seems the same . i see more stupid shid everyday out there driveing, two years ago it was a wreck everyonce and awhile now its like everyday!! the streets with lots of cages are unsafe here and it didnt used to be that way. its thursday and since monday i have seen a half a dozen wrecks and a gun pulled up at a redlight between 2 cars full of kids i was sitting behind the car that was getting the gun pointed at them and started thinking about what ta fug to do if the one starts shooting at the other, after abunch of cussing and fingers the light changed i hung a right seeing they went straight . week by week it just goes on like this . i guess what im saying is please everyone be careful out there and write me back on this thread and let me know across this nation does it seem to be getting worse ? esspecially like to hear from the real big citys who have had a traffic time for a while now how is it out there on the highways and interstates??? and how do you deal with it???

Man that sounds real bad. I haven't seen that in a while. Here in Philly there are not too many accidents but I am sure that there are some isolated incidents. A few years ago someone was shot and killed in a road rage accident. Sorry to hear that your part of town has gone to shid. Sad point about that is there were kids in the cars and the parents had no concern. Probably in a hurry to go nowhere.

been really bad here in L.A. for the last 12 months. I think at least 8 reported freeway rage shootings that left 8 dead. People think I'm exaggerating when I say that cagers in L.A. are straight out malice, but I ride nearly everyday when the weather or circumstances permit and my car is only used in absolute necessity now. So I think I see a lot more on the road, especially during rush hour, that people on this board give me credit for.

When I first started riding, I bought one of those yellow safety vest to be "more visable". Now I don't even use it. People tend to think that it would be more dangereous since I'm on a bike and not "easily seen". I basically stopped wearing it because I rather NOT be seen than being a glowing, moving target.

How do I deal with it? Split lane often and split it fast, a fast moving target IS a HARD TARGET.

Haven't seen too much aggression.

But stupidity?

Hmm just today on the way home from work.

Was doing 55 on a two lane road (one lane each way) and I see some guy on a sports bike way in front of me heading towards me. I see his head about 15 feet in the air. Sure enough. Guy passes me front tire about 11 oclock standing up on the pegs and steering wheel turned at about 10 degrees. Past me and kept it up until he was out of site.

Looked cool, but I kept thinking what would have happened if something went wrong and he hit me? he pass my truck with me doing 55 him doing about 60 and within 3 feet of me. Would have been a bad thing.

Wheelies on freeways is bad enough, but 60mph wheelies with on coming traffic.. in my opinion is a totally unnecessary risk that could cause injuries to others.

And then 15 minutes later I see some guy on a sports bike, tank top, shorts, pass a car on the right on the shoulder because two cars were side by side.

So.. not much aggression, but kind of unnecessary stupidity in my opinion.

I too can attest to the stupidity of the squid. This morning after dropping my daughter off at day care some shmuck wearing a tank top, sun hat and glasses, jeans and boots that were as loose as my socks after being worn for 48 hours went flying down City Avenue riding a yellow sport bike with no front fairings. Traffic wasn't moving fast enough for him so he decided to drive between the cars to get to the next red light. I understand splitting the lane but between a dump truck and a car is stupid.

I am in K.C. Missouri and the drivers aren't bike consious but luckly there isn't allot of traffic. But I did have a guy throwing some jumbo corn chips out the window at me the other day, wich I was dodging until I figured out what they were after about three. If I could have gotten him to pull over I was going to ram a few up his nose. Maybe next time?

Shoot back. Works for me. I'll try to post some pics when I get out of this miserable hole and get back to the house.

You can get into serious trouble for that, you got the tag number right, you have a cell phone right? All it takes is a call to the highway patrol, usually a free cell phone call, *hp on most cell phone providers.

Houston is the worse city I have ever driven in period.
I have driven in 20+ major cities in the US. These drivers are absolutely hands down the worst I have yet to see. Period. The total disregard for other motorists is rediculous - let alone motorcycles. Theres so many backward-assed-country bumpkins here too...... They will chase after your bike with their monster-trucked-out F350's cowboy-uppin' on their way to go bang some sheep!! I don't get it.
Why?
Dont even get me started with the blatant disregard for other people's lives. Murder is just an everyday news event hear. Not just one either. HOUSTON friggin sucks. I lived in NY and LA and never heard as many killings on the news on EVER a given night.
So..... let me jump off my soap-box.....

Gotta love Houston! Go 'Stros! LOL!

In Philly people are just inattentive... Cellphones, kids acting like animals in the car, putting their makeup on and so on. I haven't seen that much road rage but I have had some ride less than two feet from my back tire for a mile. When we finally got to a light they pulled up next to me and wanted to know what kind of bike it was... and they couldn't understand why I was irritated.

Here in Columbus it's not too bad I don't suppose. On the freeway there is usually enough of a flow to jockey into a safe position and even in rush hour most people give me the space when following. My problem is the woman on the cell phone, puttin on her makeup and drinkin her diet soda at 7:00 am and doesn't have a free hand to signal with and wham there she goes and after honking to get her attention you get this look like it's my fault I couldn't read her mind! Or the person who just keeps tossing trash and cigarette butts out the window when your behind them, but on this one I do know the Franklin County Environmental Prosecutor very well, I give her the tag number and they send them a nice little letter to let them know about littering and that someone was watching them. But just last night a buddy of mine let me kow of a drowning he was going to help with the rescue and I decided to swing by there, while travelling home around 10:00pm through a heavily deer populated area I was driving with caution (45mph) I would speed up or slow down according to traffic behind me when out of nowhere this woman flies up behind me and drives about 10ft! behind me for 9 miles with several places to safely pass, I gradually reduced my speed to about 15 mph and she still wouldn't pass or turn off her brights. Go figure. Be safe everyone.
