Accessories: Quad Lock Install

Mounting a Quad Lock kit takes a few more steps on the 2022 Hayabusa:

1. There's no space to insert the screw after your tightened the fork stem mount.

To work around this, split the plastic arm first, and feed in the screw part way and rotate the fork mount into position.

2. Use a 3mm ball end hex key instead of the included hex key tool. This part is key! :D

3. Tighten like so. Use a wrench on the end of the key so you can tighten the fork mount enough so that it doesn't rotate after you attach the arm.

4. Snap the other half of the arm on and tighten the arm at its lowest position.

5. As per the instructions, the rubber cap normally gets installed earlier and is captured by the screw.

However, since there is no space to pull the screw back far enough on the 2022 Hayabusa, split the end of the rubber cap. Use a new blade and use a gentle sawing motion to cut through.

6. Put some Super Lube grease on the threads of the screw and around the outside of the plug and...

7. Tap the rubber cap into place with a rubber mallet. If you've cut just the right amount off, it will go on with a little tap and stay put. You will be able to pry it off later with a screwdriver tip. If you haven't cut enough off, it won't go in.

Adjust the knuckle as you see fit and tighten but not all the way.

8. I mounted a vibration damper (sold separately) because it's recommend for phones in order to prevent the built-in camera from breaking.

9. Attach the lever mount. A blue lever is their trademark color (the black lever below is sold separately).

10. Mount phone (case is phone specific and sold separately), set the angle and tighten the knuckle.

Tip: you'll save $10 but purchasing the phone case with the fork mount as a kit.

Enjoy!

I have been using my quad lock for a few months and it’s the best phone mount I’ve used. The vibration dampening mount seems to be working well too.
So far I really like it and I think the price is reasonable for the quality.

I had to replace my garage door opener recently and most openers come equipped with wi-fi; now I can easily open up the garage door with the Chamberlain MyQ app.

A large digital readout is handy at times:

I looked at that and decided the (4) M10 bolts were in an awkward place and went for the 3mm hex wrench with the ball end instead.

Did I overlook something else?

Can’t use a Ram Mount now for ‘anything’ else…. hmmmmm. Not sure I like that. But, nice job...

And the fact that you need a special case or adapter for it. Some of the reasons why I was hesitant about it. But once I did make the purchase, I can say it was worth it. The RAM would press on the buttons and the safety tether would block part of the screen. Quad lock doesn’t do any of that while still being secure and I like that they have a vibration dampener.

I don't mind the tether on the screen part but I've tried both sizes of the ram mount and it's really annoying having to take my time and get phone in just the right spot so that it doesn't hit the buttons. And of course the rubber inside the stem never was really tight but after a couple years it's became real loose so I'm thinking my next phone upgrade I'm gonna get the quad lock too.

For those not wanting to split or cut your new stem mounts, if you spray some hairspray into the hole and move quickly, you can assemble the lower parts as designed off axis and then twist it into proper alignment. When the hairspray dries it will hold fast.

They now offer Fork Stem Mount PRO which has a little bit different design and I think it can be installed without any modifications : Motorcycle - Fork Stem Mount

Ram makes a much better phone holder, always have, much better than the one with arms..thats light duty at best, and the rubber band is silly..

But, with that said, I tried a quad lock on my pwc, ended up losing a $1000 phone in lake michigan..and had the spring loose on my side by side too..

This mount has never let a phone go..on any vehicle. nor dies it interfere with the buttons.

Pics are just to see it, mount it anyway u like.

The Ram X-Grip is terrible and messed with the side buttons on my iPhone. The Ram Finger Grip was the most secure holder I've used but was bulky. Add the rubber fork stem mount and it was always a pain to install and keep tight. I was skeptical about Quad lock at first but it's been great to me.

Quad Lock hands down every time.
lt also allows me to have the phone to the side a little and allows space for the gps when touring.
it follows the time honoured principles of, “keep it simple. It just works”
