Air Box mod

Well I was bored and after lunch took the airbox off and cut out the flapper and smoothed the housing up with a fine rolox pad.The box is a little busted up so no big loss.Wonder how it got messed up but anyway.I hope for some good gains and I will have it dynoed again later.I think it turned out good for 20 minutes of work. Now what to do for the stacks??I was thinking of cutting the middle 2 down then get new ones later.I can see how restrictive this box can be.

Got it back together and the response is quite noticable just sitting.Cant wait to get it out on the road after I get tabs and my new filter comes in tomorrow.

I wouldn't cut the bellmouth's off .

If it's a stock engine with just a pipe, little is to gain by even running the short stacks on cyl 2&3 . The small gain is at top where the stock cams are wanting to tap out anyway .

Yeah I just left them stock.I didnt want to mess with them.Hogging out the airbox made a big difference though. Now waiting on my new filter to come in.

has anyone done this to a gen2? i really havent seen much in the way of threads for it on gen2.

So instead of 4 short stacks, runs 4 tall stacks??I thought that would increase top end like a highrise intake on a smallblock.

All tall stack gives you better low and mid range acceleration. The short stack mod is good for acceleration when travelling at high speed

Give it a shot. I noticed a difference in pick up from 2000rpm. Do a search on here, there are claims of an 4hp increase

Will do.Such an easy mod for sure.To me the tall stacks look pretty tight in there for air flow but I guess velocity overcomes that.
