I had a dyno-time set up for my bike, got a bunch of new stuff installed, but i just realized my airfilter was damaged that I had ordered, will installing an aftermarket air filter affect my dyno-tune?

Yes air filters can have a effect on the a/f ratio...tune the bike WITH the air filter that you plan on using.

my pipercross came to me damaged.. i didnt realize it till i started to oil it... hope the junk is still returnable... I'll just get a K&N... bad part is, my dyno-tune is scheduled for this saturday.... i need to find a K&N before then..

K+N is reusable and filters well, but it makes less HP than the stock filter. Get a BMC filter, or another Pipercross...

I just got my bike tuned with everything being stock except for the exhaust system. Since there were mixed views about the gains with different filters and what not, I just left the stock filter in there. The guys over there told me I might of gain an hp or two but, for the price of a filter, I'd rather not. Let us know what happens when you get it tuned though

I know this isn't the classified sections and don't mean to threadjack but I have a new in the box BMC Race Air Filter for a Gen II for sale, pm me if you want it :beerchug:

I put a k&n in mine and always have . The loss of 1-2hp to me ain't that big of a deal .
What is is that I can clean it easily and put it back in .
The factory ones cost just as much and are throwaways .

It will not affect it. You can tune on stock and then shove aftermarket in and not notice any difference in tune at all. I tuned mine with bmc race, then took filter out for a 1.5hp gain and the a/f wasnt affected. So I wouldnt worry about hurrying and getting filter for the tune alone.
