It was 111 today in SOCAL in the high desert. Way too hot to ride for me. I remember when I first moved here. Rode at 100 then 105, then 110. One day it was 115, I said no big deal. Uh-huh, after 15 minutes, I had already sucked all the water out of my hydration pack like 4 liters. I started getting dizzy, made uturn hauled it to the house. I realized I was losing the water faster than I could drink it!! Four liters in 15 minutes! I checked the road temp and it was over 160. With that temp, the bike blowing hot air on me, and with the humidity at 5%, I wasn't sweating any that I could feel anyway. Over here I rarely sweat like the rolling beading sweat like in the south with all the humidity. I learned real quick that even though I wasn't sweating, I was still perspiring at a super-fast rate. Now I carry my water like a baby and his bottle sucking on that straw every 2 minutes or so even if I'm not thirsty. If I wait until I'm thirsty here, I'll be dehydrated way too much and will get sick!

Oh come on it's not that hot out here in the desert, all you need is a wet vest and some miles per hour. Works like a charm. Water helps too.:D

The trick I have found to riding in warm weather, is putting that wet vest either underneath a mesh, I textile with the vents, or perforated leather. The latter two work really really well for me on those extremely hot days, and it keeps me damp around my core.

Those red farm style neck wet handkerchief things, they work well too. We got a couple of the cycle gear, they were black and were kind of small and they seeped gel all over. Not a great choice.
