I think I'll wait on the K&N replacement currently under development instead of hacking up my beautiful Busa - provided someone provides dyno info showing an advantage with the K&N.
I have recently altered my airbox, and everything is still A-OK. I cut the bottom of the box out under the filter, flap and all. Basically the inside of the lip that is an exact outline of the filter itself. You have to feed the animal for it to act right!! LET IT EAT!!!. If anybody else has tried this please reply.
Look around the outside of the flap and you will see little round circles ...I have bored all of those out with half inch drill bit and with no driveability problems. Its got to push more air like that...we need a good air filter! Busa`s on dyno without air filter get around 3 more ponies..so that tells you a lot!
Yes you can do the same modification to the 96-99 GSXR 750s but just like the Hayabusa you must remap the fuel curve in the 98 and 99 750s because they are fuel injected.8 to 10 horsepower is gained but it cant be measured on the dyno.I used to own a 96 GSXR 750 and did the air box modification. The 96 is carbureted and the bike ran 10.76 in the 1/4 before the mod and ran 10.60 after with rejetting.
