Akro Dyno numbers

Well I just got home from the Dyno, all numbers are SAE with the same operator and approximately the same temp. My baseline was 151.1, after Akro and PC2 w/akro map it is 157.5. THe guy said that it could use some tuning and said that my clutch was slipping. I didnot see any gain until after 3k rpm. ANy ideas about what should be done about the clutch. I am waiting to get my BMC filter and once I get it I will do the airbox mod and take it back for another run and some tuning.

The operator that did the dyno knows his stuff. He builds dragbikes and other high performance bikes. He thought that with the syth oil and stock clutch that the clutch springs might need to be tightened. This guy does the work on Kawabusers bike and GSX1300rguy's bike, so it was not just some flunky doing the run. It is supposedto rain here all week, so maybe I will pull the airbox off and do the cut now like you said. I will let you know what it adds and how much I get out of the tuning.

Oger I'm not suggesting your dyno operator's a flunky. I'm just stating the obvious fact that if you do indeed have any clutch slip that you're going to know it when you ride the bike if you ever use full throttle.

I had no idea KawAbuser ever dynoed his bike. Iand others asked him several times for results on his mods including pipes and cams and we just never get any response.

He has not dyno'd it yet, he did his exhaust and will be doing some tuning to it. I have not really had the chance to push it yet, but I thought that I had noticed something on the highway the otherday. I am a new rider (only been riding for 1 year), so I do not really know what to look for. When he was doing the roll-on all of a sudden it rev'd high loke it went into neutral but it had not. I will post the dyno sheet in a couple of days, it shows this.

Stop right there Oger! You have clutch problems.....

Don't waste any more money on dyno runs. :(

I can't say what your problem is(type of oil, weak springs, worn clutch plates?) but anytime your rev's shoot up like that, somethings wrong?

Dp, why do you think kawabuser doesn't respond to those questions?

(I'm curious)

Maybe it's time to "Raise the Blinds"?

The slipping clutch could be making ANY amount of difference on a dyno if the guy's right. But my bet is you have no problem with the clutch if you were not already aware of one when you rode in.

I agree that the BD clutch mod is a VERY important one to do right away, but all it does is tightening the springs up a little with spacers. If you DO have a slipping clutch you have other problems to address...burned plates most likely. But don't trust the dyno operator's word...if your clutch slipped on the dyno, you'll notice it slipping in a 4th gear roll on while you're riding...and in hard launch hook-ups too.

You dyno result is not bad result given that you didn't tune and that you have no air filter and no box cut. Just do the box cut now...no reason to wait, the BMC does very little. You've got air out but not air in...you're starving your new pipe. That combo runs real nice on stock map...I've done it...altho' it can be improved a little with remapping for sure.

I bet the cut with the pipe gives you another 3 hp, then 1 for the filter and another couple for a slight remap.

And try to find some of the gas you want. Good luck!

What do you all suggest I do about the clutch? Will soaking the plates help? Is it something that I could take it to the dealer under warranty for? HELP!!!!!!!

Well, if you have plans to do the Big BDE Clutch Modification, I wouldn't mess with the dealer.

But if your going to wait awhile, I'd be taking it to the dealer first thing Monday!

Remember, it'll just get worse & worse!

Unless, the Busa fairy's visit it before then.
