All new questions

Well I bought the 04' LE Hayabusa on Saturday morning. Of course, as with all new things, I thought I had questions before, now I have a slew of all new questions.

I will post pics as soon as possible, I have to get batteries for the digital camera to get good pictures, or you can't see the flames. Until then I have some questions.

#1 Cold. I thought the Busa was fuel injected? Why does mine have a choke, why does my choke lever have to go so high to even engage, and is it normal for the Busa to be a little tempermental in the morning when it's cool or cold?

#2 Rattle. My windscreen rattles. I have a feeling this is not uncommon. Is there a respolution? I was thinking about some dampening tape in the underside of the windscreen to keep it from shaking?

#3 Rear Stand. I need to adjust the chain a little, it has about 1/4 - 1/2" of additional play that I don't reaklly want in there. Bad experience with my Bandit where I ate up the sprockets for being stupid about chain tension.

#4 Chain snap? Speaking of which, I had a guy who told me some horror story about his stock chain snapping, and ripping his from sprocket, the box cover, and of course the chain to shreads. Any validity about the quality of the stock chain, because I am really big on chain upkeep, and I think this guy was just being a little silly or possibly overexagerating.

#5 Engine Vibration. This thing reminds me distinctly of that old 1100 GSXR engine that was in my bandit. It has a fun humm to it, but being from the VTX, even the stock cans start to make it scream at anything over about 5k rpms. So I like to keep it in high gear at about 4.5k where it's the smoothest, does that sound normal?

#6 Last one for now. Higher RPMs are new to me, so what is the tolerance of the engine to these things? Can it hold a steady 7k rpms without doing major damage? I tend to keep it below 5 for the most part, but this is more curiosity than anything else.

Thanks for all the purchasing help from everybody, I really appreciate it!

And since I don't have pics available yet, here is the pic from cycle trader. If you look hard you can see (just barely) the inset flames.

Thanks again for all of the help to everyone for their opinions!

Congrats!

Yes, she is fuel injected and can be a little tempermental on cold mornings.

#2 Rattle. My windscreen rattles. I have a feeling this is not uncommon. Is there a respolution? I was thinking about some dampening tape in the underside of the windscreen to keep it from shaking?

Windscreen rattle is common. If you remove the screen and put some electrical around the edge it should be fine.

Not sure what the question is here. If it's which one to get it depends on how much you want to spend. Pit-Bull is very nice, but expensive. Handy is nice and inexpensive.

Stock chain can last for a very long time with proper cleaning/lubrication. Some have had it go for around 8k miles.

You will find she is smooth throughout the RPM range. She will get a little loud when the revs are up, but do not fear. Most of us like it a little loud anyway, so that the cagers can hear us better.

No damage at all. When you start hitting the higher speeds (at least occasionally) you'll see that she does just fine.

Gracias. At 12k I am guessing I probably need to look at a new chain...

But I still have about three ticks on the strech, so I will keep a close eye on the wear.

Thanks again!

Welcome and congrats!!!!

Remenber search is a wonderfull thing!!!!![/QUOTE]

lol, so I am learning. I tend to get a ton more responses than what I expected though. It's a refinement process, I see.

Example, I am researching the TRE, thingy. I ended up back here. Not sure why yet. But I know that worst case, I will have to extend my patience and simple start working through the larger findings.

I have to say, after reading here, I am finally really excited. I've always been more about the ride and the race than how it looks flying down the road. All this turbo talk and NOS talk on the other board really is getting me excited. I may be putting a lot into this bike which I have never done before.

What area of Plano are you located.......I'm in Carrollton near Old Denton and Frankford........see you around sometime.

BTW (your item #1) the lever on left bar is not a choke....it's a throttle advance to increase the rpm's on cold starts and is not a fuel enrichment as a choke .....fyi

I actually live at Spring Creek and Coit, but if you don't come to the area over here much, it would be Tollway and Spring Creek/Legacy area.

Actually, I ride with a group, and if you ever have rides my friends and I are up for it. Although my good friend rides a chopped VStar (raked trees, big rear tire, etc), so his top speed on that thing is around a hundred with a good distance to get there.

Congratulations and welcome to the board!

BigBSBusa answered your questions. The 'Busa is a very reliable bike. There are plently of mods available that can tweak the bike to your personal preferences. Do some searches on this site for the areas you might be interested in.

You will love the bike.
