Almost ready...to give up 1000

I have a 04 GSXR 1000 that I use for track days, commuting and back road riding. My back is getting worse and I'm thinking of just giving up my 1000 and buying and building my dream Busa

. Track day risk and another back injury are just too high. Any one ever have to make this choice?

Yes, gave up my Jeep and my GSXR 100, but my back still ached. Found out it was actually old age..LOL. I felt I was getting a little old for tricks and curves anyways. I miss my GSXR 1000 from time to time, but I love my Busa. Even my Busa inflicts some back pain on me. I say go ahead and make the transition. If you've thought about it your bound to do it sooner or later. Might as well be sooner.

I think you'll enjoy the Busa.

People may make fun of them but a chiropractor really does help ........with regular visits You'll feel like you're 18 again !

Go for it! Most threads I've read say just the opposite ... leaving the Busa and buying a 1000 for the track.

I switched from a CBR954RR to the busa cause it's more of a comfy cruiser that can pull duty on a dragstrip/roadcourse/long distance trip/more comfortable ride. I love my decision, I only wish I could have kept my 954 also.

you take that thing to the track?

Nope, It's since gotten too expensive ($25K) and I wound up buying a GSXR 600 for track/stunt duty. BUT, my original intentions were to track it

(black954 @ Dec. 03 2006,09:17) I'm sure your feelings will change also once you've built your dream busa!
you got ohlins on the Bus?
So far Ohlins R/T forks with superbike internals and 916 style steering damper. All I need is the remote preload adjustable shock and the suspension will be done. My bike is nothing, there are guys here with busa's with the nitrogen charged $10,000 superbike forks and $2000 brembo radial monoblock calipers.

Get the Busa for the comfort. I did the opposite. I went from busa to 1K and instantly dropped 10 seconds off my lap times.

BuT....

The busa handles really well around the track. The occasional trackday on the Busa ain't a bad idea either.
