Hi gang,

I have an 02 busa that is stock. I do have a K&N air filter, TRE, Micron bolt ons' with stock header, extended 5 and a half inches.

I was talking with a co-worker who has an 08 and heas tellin me that he put a PCIII on his and he is getting better gas mileage. I never felt like I needed anymore performance enhancement as the stock Busa is morethan enough power for me. I would however love to take advantage of the better gas mileage. Will any of you guys and gals list for me some of the advantages if I should decide to do this MOD. I know this has been asked before so please spare me the sarcasim.

thats about what I get 38-42 taking it easy. I can drop down to around 30 if I am playing with it.

Not sure you would gain any fuel economy by getting a PCIII. On top of the $250 for the unit..you would need to have it tuned as well. A custom dyno tune will run you about $250...sometimes you can get deals if you get both at same place.

That said to say this..you do not improve gas mileage by just installing a PCIII. Typically they are needed to compensate/adjust for added perfomance parts.

Maybe some one else with more experience will chime in.

Thanks for the advice bro. I don't want to waste the money if it is not gonna benefit me greatly. I was just entertaining the idea.

cipher,

What sprockets are you running... stock 17-40 or going to an 18-40 will get the most out of it. The common dropping to a 16-40 is going to make a noticable difference.

Based on the onboard mileage meter I could get 50 MPG with my stock ( nothing changed from the factory ) '06 @ 4K RPMs. That was that bikes sweet spot which was basically a good speed for most highway travel.

The '08 has such great electronics, I can't imagine anyone putting a PC on a stock one. Maybe he tuned it lean and is getting better mileage while sacrificing reliability.

it all depends on waht your focus is. For better mileage you want the rpm to be lower during your cruise speed. This would mean going +1 in the front or -2 in the back. The bike wont accelerate as quick.
I am running the stock 17-40. I am concidering sprocket change. Don't know which way I wanted to go.
