Painted Mirrors and Inners.

I need to tackle the inners differently I do beleive.

Anyone else who has painted their inner panels please chime in.  I lightly sanded the panel, but not smooth.  I am in the process of priming...sanding..priming...ect.  Is this the best method or should I sand the panel smooth before priming?

man I'm glad you live down the road because I was thinking out the same thing...you gonna be ready by Saturday for the ride?

I should be ready. If the mirrors are not dry enough I will go without.

2 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear. Hind sight = should have done 3 coats of paint due to the candy look of the paint

Mirrors look good. For the inners I usaully sand them as smooth as I can get them with 80, 180 then 220 before I ever spray any primer. I use a small DA sander for most of them. And I still have to sand the primer after spraying the first couple coats. Trying for fill in all that textured surface with primer will take a lot of coats. It sucks but it's worth the effort. Good luck.

there's two ways on the inners
one do like your doing it takes about three primer coats to fill in.
two sand it with 80 grit. put a very light coat of plastic putty on. sand with 320 after that, prime, wet sand with 400 and your ready.

I think I will try the putty on the other 2 parts (lower) of the innners. I am finished with one of the top ones and have the second coat on the other.

Mirrors are done, but i will not get a chance to wet sand them until after the ride Saturday. It does not matter I fugged up and took off a small chip of paint while removing the tape...so I will wait about a month and tape off and repaint that section.

Thanks for all the input.
